Do I need to finish the Clone Wars before I watch Bad Batch?
I’m halfway through season 3

Yes. The Bad Batch is in the first few episodes of Season 7.

Overall for the Bad Batch themselves no. Just their season 7 arc would be kinda necessary. You get a good intro to their characters here. But for the extra characters, probably. I think it’d be more fulfilling to see it all first, particularly when Rex shows up. Especially if he talks about his experience with Order 66.

If I was 12 I’d love this shite

There was a book published almost 10 years ago called "The Bad Batch" that introduced them.
Which would have put them out there during the Clone Wars animated series. Again they may have helped boost their appeal besides Season 7.

As far as the cameo, Caleb Dume is the birth name of Kanan Jarrus.
I knew the moment they mentioned his master's name. Again others that were not a part of the original CW series but will connect more dots, especially between Rebels and the Clone Wars.
It will be interesting now that it seems they are headed to find Cut Lawquane since his planet seems to be there destination. With that in mind I assume Rex, Wolfe, and McGregor will be in the series as well.

SPOILERS
Kind of sucks that Crosshair turned against them. Any chance they take his chip out and he rejoins them at some point?

I think there is definitely a chance. Perhaps after they visit Rex (whenever that is) and learn the whole story behind the inhibitor chip and how Rex had his removed they will form a plan to save Crosshair. I’m just guessing at the possible storyline, but whatever it is, I definitely think there is a chance that Crosshair will be saved.

Damn I missed this animation style after putting up with Rebels. It’s so damn perfect. I wish Rebels had kept it.
I did not expect to open seeing a young Kanan. That was a nice Rebels nod and sad.
Looks like Order 66 pretty much wiped out much of the individual clone minds and turned them into order following drones. And yup. Palps thought cheaping out with recruited Storm Troopers was more cost effective. How’d that turn out for them? Not well. Clones likely demolish the rebel resistance.
Looks like Crosshair isn’t as “bad batch” as originally thought. Looks to be a little too obedient to orders like normal clones. And yep. His flaws didn’t totally wipe out the inhibitor chip and dbag Tarkin ramps it up. Bummer having him turned into a lapdog to hunt down the rest of the BB.
Interesting that the Kaminoan Doc helped them. I thought the scientists were always pretty emotionless.
J19? Know a guy... hmm.
So what’s the deal with Omega? Just a mutation to get a female or was there some additional frickery going on?
. I’d be down with a sexy female Bobba. Love me some Frankie Adams. Fine as hell and a believable badass.

Just finished watching. That was fantastic. Loved the cameo at the start and am really intrigued by Omega. Going to be a great show.

Is Omega going to grow like a normal clone (accelerated growth?) or more like Boba and grow slowly?
I’m kind of hoping fast so we can see the abilities and see her become a badass. My guess is she will stay a kid since the show is still aimed for kids

I didn’t mean to insult the show I enjoyed it I just meant if I was 12 I’d probably think this was THE best show on tv. Cool show will definitely watch again next week

Is it though? The storyline is fairly advanced so far with murder, betrayal, etc.

My experience with Clone Wars is that it is not a very kid-focused show, but is still just tame enough that you don't feel bad letting your kids watch it.

I think crosshair still has hope.
He doesn't miss, and he missed a few times in that last scene.
So maybe he was sort of pulling his punches.

Omega’s growth cycle hasn’t been stated. The way they word it like she is like the other Bad Batch members makes if feel like she would have been made at a similar time, which would mean she doesnt have accelerated growth.
If she did have accelerated growth, she was created about 2 years before the war began, assuming she is aged like a 10 year old.

I assumed them messing with his brain pretty much eliminated any hesitance he might have had attacking his brothers
Hopefully, they get him back after some intel from Rex. But it makes sense for him to be a villain for a little while until they find someone else to fill the villain role. He's intimidating and cunning and knows them just enough for it to be an emotional crux for the show but also provide a viable threat.

J19 is I think where there was a clone that had deserted to go raise a family. I thought that was Rex that knew about him though and not the Bad Batch (though I guess there's no reason they couldn't also know).
As far as Omega- at first I thought she was some kind of psychic/force sensitive due to how she was acting around Hunter, but after she picked up the gun and fired at crosshair, I'm wondering if it's not some kind of enhanced learning programming where she picks things up by seeing/mimicking. Either that or they genetically programmed her to pick up the best traits of the original four Bad Batch to Voltron them in to one prototype soldier.
Waiting for Ep 2 to see if they show her watching Tech and then doing some kind of slicing or piloting or displaying mechanical aptitude, and/or if she'll hulk out like Wrecker.
Man what if this is Filoni trying to retcon why Rey is such a crazy Mary Sue by saying 'oh, look. the Kaminoans made a female Palpatine and they programmed her like the Bad Batch to be able to pick up those things quickly and she's Rey's mom'.

Don’t worry about that. Rey’s father was the clone, and he wasnt force sensitive. A failed project.
But if Omega is sensitive, I had an idea. It involves the cloning process, the sex of the subject, and how it relates to making the subject Force sensitive.
My idea is that a male clone may not take to the Force as easily as a female would, if at all. Something about Omega that the Kaminoans may not want the Empire to know. Supporting this would be Rey’s dad, a clone of Sheev Palpatine, wasn’t special... yet she was ultra powerful. Also in canon, the Chiss having Force sensitivity is rare, But it also says most of the ones that have it are female.
Its not a lot, but if she turns out to have it, I will feel that is the direction they go.

Filoni, more than his partner in crime Favreau, seems like the sort of guy that would go all in on an attempt to save the Sequels. A lot of folks on here might not care for him being a liberal, but he is supposed to be a legendarily kind person in a business that is not often noted for the nice guy finishing first. Given that and his personal loyalty to George Lucas he'd probably crawl through broken glass to "save" the Star Wars Sequels.
Though he has said that he isn't adverse to altering canon so...
