Just did a quick search. In 2018, LSU womens basketball lhad a loss of $4.2mm. What if Mulkey cuts that to a loss of $2mm and makes $2.5m? What if she cuts it to less than $2mm?

See where this is going?

Also speaking of Wade, where is he going to go? What university will pay him more than we are with all of this hanging over his head?

I don't really care it's called making an observation...but yes it will come out of any LSU fan who supports the programs account.

This week, in response to a query about its financials, the NCAA insisted again that the women don’t turn a profit. This is patently unjustifiable. You know how much revenue NCAA Division I women’s basketball generated collectively in 2018-2019? Almost a billion dollars. That’s according to economist Daniel Rascher, a financial analyst for the firm OSKR who studied the NCAA’s self-reported numbers and testified as an expert in the governing body’s ongoing antitrust litigation.

You know how many companies will advertise on ESPN during this women’s tournament, brands that want to be associated with the elegance of stars such as Iowa’s Caitlin Clark and Stanford’s Kiana Williams, who play the game like strings of silk? A total of 77, among them Verizon, Chevrolet, L’Oréal and Nike.

You know how many viewers watched the championship game in 2019? More than 3.68 million, with a peak of 5.6 million in the closing minutes of Baylor’s one-point victory over Notre Dame. Know what that’s comparable to? A Wimbledon men’s final. Game 1 of the 2019 National League Division Series between the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Dodgers. LeBron James’s debut with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Only an absolute JACKASS would be upset about LSU hiring Mulkey and paying her 2.5 million (or whatever the exact number is).

Come on, man. There’s a time and a place to play the role of troll/contrarian and this morning is not it. This hire was the best news we’ve heard at LSU in a few months. And Lord only knows it’s been morning after morning of shite news coming out of LSU.

What will the new facilities consist of? A new PMAC? They just built new practice facilities.

With what LSU is going through for stuff from years ago and the Arizona BB coach getting fired, I wouldn't do this.

How long did Skip take to build a profitable program? He did so good a job, now that they are not great, they still sell out season seats because people are waiting for a return to greatness.

How long did it take Breaux to build up women's gymnastics into a profit. It took a while and now they sell out the PMAC at every meet.

If you build a winning anything at LSU, competing for national championships, the people of this state will support it both with money and loyalty. If she wins a natty for LSU, then it will pay for itself.

Yes sir, get ready to breathe on the players. A couple of mocks have been brought up already. Mulkey and Wade want the PMAC to become the equivalent of Death Valley. They want a Modernized facility that’s comfortable and luxury to fans but also intimidating to opposing teams.

Somewhere between 8,000 and 10,000 seats.

Uh yeah, if you want to be competitive and keep up with other big-time programs in the sports that matter you want to make money so you can build your program and compete. Yes, it's about making money idiot.

You are an idiot. Your false equivalent falls flat.

You pay a 3X National Championship coach her market value, based on her expected impact to the Athletic Department.

So you’d rather LSU pay less money to suck?

Money doesn't grow on trees in LA like it does in Texas. LSU is a mid pack academic institution, and I wish more people thought of spending lavishly on academics as much as sports.

of a program that doesn't make money?

Well here is what in my view will happen. If you look at each program as a Profit Center, LSU Ladies Basketball will be much different.

Revenues from the program will increase:
1) Ticket sales
2) Merchandise sales
3) Advertising Revenues related to Woman's basketball will also increase

So the incremental costs of paying Mulkey 2.5 million vs. Fargas 750K will I predict be more than offset by additional incremental revenues.

It loses money now. It will lose money under Mulkey. No real change.

But under Mulkey we get exposure, success, facilities and a fun sport to watch with full arenas supporting a winner. So please tell me the down

Are you serious?

Right now you can go out and buy a $800,000 Ferari on credit. You would have a flashy girl-getter and a car that's a blast to drive. So please tell me the down.

So, Woodward is basically back to his A&M strategy of just overspending to bring in a big name.

And for a sport that will continue to likely lose significant money even if they win an NC.

There is a lot of stupid in this.Whatever revenue sharing universities get for the TV advertising is already baked in the cake, and women's sports are still LOSING MONEY!
