There is a lot of stupid in this.Whatever revenue sharing universities get for the TV advertising is already baked in the cake, and women's sports are still LOSING MONEY!

How dare you question it. Let's see, $1 Billion split across how many women's teams? Let's underestimate and go with 300 teams (way lower than it really is).

So that means each team is bringing in on average $3.33 Million (again this is way more than reality). Take out the cost of coaching staffs (likely an average of $1,000,000 if you count the small schools), then the costs for the scholarships, tutors, travel, marketing, and everything else, and I guarantee you it is a significant net negative.

It simply is not as entertaining, and that is fine. No one is sitting here telling people to cancel women's sports. They just want people to accept reality that it is a monetary loss and wouldn't exist without the support of other sports being able to fund them.

So you’d rather LSU pay less money to suck?

In a sport that relatively few people care about, yes absolutely we should pay less money, even if that means we suck (which it doesn't necessarily mean).

The logic you're using would justify a lot of really stupid contracts.

You're totally right. Lets pay the best less than what they're worth.

I questioned the pay scale for a sport that doesn't generate revenue

The sport does generate revenue. Maybe it doesn’t generate a profit, that’s what happens when you suck for 10 years. Not many baseball teams make a profit......LSU does. Not many WBB teams generate a profit, LSU can.

The question is "should LSU go out and get the best women's basketball coach, and pay whatever they are supposedly worth on the market?"

It's surprising that so many of you think the answer is yes.

Why is the answer no?

Are you serious?

Right now you can go out and buy a $800,000 Ferari on credit. You would have a flashy girl-getter and a car that's a blast to drive. So please tell me the down.

It's WBB, and it will never turn a profit. Your 800000 Ferrari on credit is atypical of Louisiana. Everything is free.

Why is the answer no

Because WBB is a relatively unimportant sport to LSU fans, and she'll be making as much or more than coaches for sports LSU fans care more about.

Wasn't that was 15 years ago.

Maybe that will be encouragement to those coaches to do better.

Both are garbage reasons to make the "obvious" conclusion you did btw.

Ok, so you think the relative importance of a sport to the fans should not be a driving factor? So what are some important factors that are independent of relative importance to the fans?

And I'm only saying the answer is no because of how high the number is. If it cost less to get the best, the answer might be yes.

Nonsense. Fire any coach that needs such motivation to do their best. What it will do is drive up what we pay coaches in those sports, regardless of their performance.
