I watched this British gem for first time ever recently. Honestly might be one of the best comedies I’ve ever seen. I haven’t laughed this hard at a movie in ages. This is one of those movies that I’ve heard of and have seen numerous times scanning through things to watch but never bothered to click play.
The plot, while very simple, is brilliantly executed by some of the best writing and acting I’ve ever seen in a comedy. Kevin Kline (won the Oscar for best supporting actor), Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jon Cleese are unbelievable.
The setting (late 80s London) is unique and goes well with the plot and characters.
Highly recommend

I saw it back at the time and remembered loving it. Haven't seen it in decades and don't even remember what it's about.

Kline is great in this.
It's been a while since I've seen it.
This one has one of the Pythons in it and he has a stutter?

Great movie. Kline, Curtis, Cleese, Palin all give good performances.
I especially liked Kline as the American boyfriend of Curtis' character and Palin as K-K-K-K-KKen the stuttering brother of the jailed crook.
Kline stole the show in this one though.

Just a brilliantly funny film all the way through. Even the obvious jokes are so well executed that they seem fresh.
And forget that True Lies shite - JLC was never sexier than she was in Wanda.

Here are at least three things you’ve gotten wrong.
1. Aristotle wasn’t Belgian.
2. The central message of Buddhism isn’t “Every man for himself.”
3. The London Underground is NOT a political movement

Cleese and Michael Palin...Palin has the stutter and the fish tank.
One of my favorites.
