Yep. I've seen this with a lot of Europeans also. They equate 'black' with their experience with African immigrants in Europe and are usually shocked when they encounter black culture in the US.

Honestly the majority of my personal experiences with black people run the same as it has been with white people. Not much difference at all. Of course, all of us tend to run in the same socio-economic circles. Generally people of middle class, upper middle class, etc... tend to go to same/similar restaurants, sporting events, live in same neighborhoods, etc..

I don't hang out in the hood. But I don't hang out in the poorest of the poorest white trash trailer parks either.

My negative "experiences" with black people are on social media, video clips, and the news.

That's a cool story to me because of what you said at the end about the anger in your heart. I think a lot of people are on that verge right now.

I went to River Parish public schools; I thought my name was “White Boy” until college.

That's what you want to believe.

Grew up in Louisiana and now live in Seattle.

Northerners lecturing Southerners on race is one of my favorite things about race relations. Quickest way to offend a bunch of white people from up north is suggest there are any differences between races, cultural or otherwise. They know this because every time they have to drive through a black neighborhood, they lock their doors and don't stop anywhere.

Southerners live side by side with each other. They face real race issues every day and have to learn to tolerate each other or kill each other. Being from rural Ohio, I never had to deal with that stuff until I came south. You learn a lot.

Having then moved back up north to the whitest state in the union, it was really funny watching how educated white people keep all the blacks cordoned off in government housing and pretend like they were enlightened because their kids go to school with two blacks.

I grew up in Mobile and work in healthcare. I’ve been around more black people in my life than any of the white guilt libs in congress.

Better part of half of my life we were taught to not judge people by their skin color, now we are taught to only judge people by their skin color. Such a screwed up flip-flop they (liberals/ media) did.

A lot of experience from school, community and ultimately my work.

White liberals and race grifters are the drivers of a racism agenda. Generally, most common people don’t have a major issue with race and race relations.

The white liberals (many of whom have not engaged extensively with black people in their lives) and grifters seek to divide with the intent of division and delivery of the black vote.

I’m from Louisiana, grew up in Baton Rouge, lived other place places in the South, I’ve got plenty experience. They may account for 13% of the total population, but that number isn’t accurate for the South. This ain’t Oregon, Washington, Maine or Vermont.

Very interesting. I think you are on to something. I grew up in the Louisiana delta and played basketball in school. I was often the only white guy in the gym. Many times I felt more comfortable around black guys than white guys as I felt there were no pretenses. A couple of years ago I went to a men's conference at Tony Evan's church in Dallas. I rode a charter bus with 37 brothers (in Christ) ...I was the only white person, so yeah, I do feel it is condescending for people who grow up in lily white areas to tell me I ((we) are racist.

For example...I was working in Kansas a couple of weeks ago. In conversation I mentioned crime rates going up in NO, BR, and Shrev. He fumbled through his next question..."so, is there a lot of racism there?". That's what he assumed the problem was. I don't think he is a bad guy, he just buys what the media is selling.

The good news is I don't see this with the people I work with. I spoke with a black brother I met this week in Virginia...here is what we agreed on.

1. The powers want us to hate each other.
2. Since we are both bought by the blood of Christ there is no further reconciliation that needs to take place. Since both of us were reconciled to God, then we are now naturally reconciled to each other as adopted sons of God.
3. We committed we would pray for each other and love those in our spheres...that we wouldn't let the world rip apart what God has brought together.

I am blessed to have these types of conversations with people all over the country. Unfortunately some people just don't know, but they think they do.

Sometimes. Not all successful black people earned it. But that applies to all people regardless of skin tone.

I will say that stories of inner city folks escaping gangs and drugs are awesome to hear. Love those success stories.

I have 30 years of experience of living in an area with a majority of blacks. I'm 45 years old. I am not an idiot, I judge everyone on an individual basis. Some white people on this board have a problem with judging as a group m

I didn't grow up around a lot of blacks

I am 55..grew up in Houston

Attended Alief and Klein High School

I'd say blacks were about 13%...on our basketball team we had one black kid...he was a stud athlete, but he didn't want to listen to the coaches so he didn't play much. Then he transferred out

that said, in college and later in my church life, I have met many Black people whom I love and respect.

Black people are just people like all of us

they have opinions, they think about the issues, love God, go to work and have the same struggles as anyone of us. People are people...

I find that most black people are genuine and a lot of fun to be around.

that said, we don't live in the same communities here in Cary NC.

Blacks are not far away but not in the subdivisions...mostly in Apartments. That said, I see plenty of blacks in our Area who have high paying jobs, they have nice homes and drive the nicest vehicles.

Cary HS has many black and Hispanics... it's probably 50% minority...and Cary is one of the top cities in the country to live in...

it's kind of weird. Other high schools in Cary are mostly white...

WE have one middle school nearby that is 90% India
