Nobody is talking about tablets taking the place of a proper education.

when I get home from work, my son and I go for a walk, generally to the park or sometimes just on the trails throughout my neighborhood. We do that until dinner time. Sometimes we get home before dinner is ready. I like sitting and relaxing with him when he plays on his tablet.

His mom is constantly doing stuff. Either cleaning inside, doing yard work, creating lesson plans, cooking meals... She's the exact opposite of lazy. She doesn't stop.
You and your wife sound like amazing people. I wish more parents were like you.

My 4 and 6 year old has never used a tablet for anything other than virtual learning. They have imaginations and great social skills. They have table manners and are part of the conversation at dinner. Their social skills are beyond many of the kids in their class. We have friends who let their kids play on the tablets all day. Their kids have none of these traits.

Bro, if you haven't been on a ten hour road trip with two toddlers, then shut the frick up.

I have, more than once so I’ll refrain from shutting the frick up and judge the lazy ones. Hell we were on the road for two weeks over Christmas and the only technology they got in the car was looking over my shoulder for a few minutes while I watched football on my phone when the interstate wasn’t moving. OP is correct, tablets are lazy. Especially giving them a damn tablet in a restaurant. If your kids can’t behave in public for the length of a meal you need to leave and go work on that.

But admit it. You can't prove the OP wrong.

A lot of people already have proved him wrong.

Technology is ruining kids. Especially YouTube and Minecraft.

Just curious on your reasoning for this. How did your children benefit from your decision to nit allow them to watch a movie on your road trip?

Folks who give their kids tablets are making things harder on themselves in the long run. They stay occupied in the short term but when the tablets aren't in front of them they are under stimulated and hyperactive. It's no coincidence kids these days cant fricking sit still or remotley act right in public

Is giving a kid a tablet to distract them any different than giving a comic book, magazine or book back in the day?

Totally agree. It’s pathetic. Go out to eat and look around. Electronic babysitters.

I mean I gave my 20 year old another tablet and my 18 year old another tablet so you’re wrong.

OP never qualified anything about age.

All you need is a 2.5 and a 20 on the ACT to get TOPS. Frick it son, play angry birds all day so I can post on TD.

I remember reading about this a few years ago, it was in wide response to "The future is electronic, I don't want my kid falling behind!"

I was just like - dude, the people who know the absolute most about technology aren't giving their kids even 5 minutes a day on it

iPhones and shite are designed to be so simple a toddler can use it - if your kid is too dumb to figure it out at 14 instead of 4, that's on you and your genes.

I'm not without sin and my toddler watches way more tv and music videos than I ever thought she would.
