Disney/ABC rejected TV show pilots/concepts because they had too many white people.

Last fall, ABC unveiled a set of inclusion standards as a path toward more diverse representation both onscreen and behind the scenes on network shows.
For onscreen representation, the guidelines called for 50 percent or more of regular and recurring characters to come from underrepresented groups and the same percentage for the actors who play those parts.

Walt Disney Television chairman of entertainment Dana Walden referenced the standards April 9 during a panel discussion put on by Chapman University and Glamour, and she revealed that the latest crop of pilots received by the network failed to make the grade. "I will tell you for the first time we received some incredibly well-written scripts that did not satisfy our standards in terms of inclusion, and we passed on them," Walden explained to moderator Janice Min, now a contributing editor at Time and formerly co-president of The Hollywood Reporter.
quote:
Walden cited an example of receiving a script centered on a white family with the assumption that the diversity would come with the neighbors. "Pass," she said. "That's not going to get on the air anymore because that's not what our audience wants. That's not a reflection of our audience, and I feel good about the direction we're moving."

The parks are also now allowing "cast members" to show tattoos, wear more jewelry, let them wear their hair however they want, and more leeway with how they wear the uniforms. All in the name of being more inclusive.

And until THIS changes, they'll keep pushing it.

Let’s be honest. No one watches a fricking thing on ABC unless it is some insidious Bachelor shite. They can continue to suck at developing TV shows

If they wanted to accurately depict interracial marriages it would be white guys with Asian women and latina women.

So instead of being inclusive, they are being discrimative against a certain color of people if they have 50% of that color?

I bet ABC's ratings will skyrocket!

quote:What she meant to say was that it's not what the audience we want wants. They could get a huge audience if they didn't continuously have woke storylines and shoehorn actors in because of their race. But they'd rather signal their virtue and target a subset of the population because they'll still get advertisers that way even if they don't get the viewership totals they want.

I sort of agree, but I must admit I do watch their Game Shows.
To Tell The Truth, The Hustler, The new Chase (which actually kind of sucks bc the host is horrible.)

exactly
when is the last time ABC had a scripted hit show?
Modern Family?
I'm sure if you look at their biggest scripted hits of all time, the casts will be predominantly white.

Good. If the common folks in corporate America, education, etc have to practice diversity, then it should be forced in entertainment and all levels of management and society.

Every TV show these days on major networks is heavily SJW/progressive. None of it is worth watching anymore.
