Because he sucks.

He got fired from Florida International, but you feel like he could succeed here?

Why not Jim Schwanke?

He can bring us the BLAST hitting system back to LSU.

You do know that he only coached under Skip for 2 seasons right?

Because he can’t run a program.

If that’s your choice you may as well hire me, I’ve put together several World Series winning teams in MLB The Show.

Is he still the hitting coach for the rangers?

Who wouldn't want this 2008 Arizona State recruiting class from his time there:
Eric Hosmer
Kyle Skipworth
Brett Lawrie
Jordan Swagerty
Brad Hand

3 first rounders, 2 second rounders? Everyone wants that. Including the pro teams that signed them so they never got to campus.

Ahh I see.

The only way I even knew he was with the Rangers is because my nephew did a hitting camp with him a year or two ago. Didn’t realize he was with the minor league clubs.

The fact that turtle thomas only refers to himself in the third person makes it a no for me

He was always a great recruiter but he wasn’t a good head coach. Those are two separate things.

If you have 5 guys removed from your class because they were drafted in the first two rounds, are you really that good of a recruiter? Part of the job is getting them to campus.

I don’t think it’s fair to count that against Turtle. Where I could see him deserving criticism, is if he didn’t have a plan for after they went pro.

He was a good recruiter in terms of getting commitments. Granted I can’t imagine it being very tough to get guys to commit to going play baseball in Tempe, AZ as their backup plan if the pros don’t match you.
