Laborers 12-14/h, carpenters up to 25/hr. With benefits of course

As I've seen posted several times, "if a business can't pay enough to get workers off unemployment, then they don't deserve to be in business."
So a for profit business needs to compete with a government that thinks it can endlessly print money?
Welcome to frickin Venezuela.

Why are we encouraging this?
“We” aren’t. The Democrat party is. They know most restaurants are small businesses, and know it’s difficult to coerce/force small businesses to act in a way that directly benefits the Democrat party.
So, kill off small business is a win for them.

Laborers 12-14/h,
Will be hard to fill. Unemployment is giving 500 a week plus they max you out on food stamps. So, someone gets more buying power not working than taking your 14/hr job.

We have 1000’s crossing the boarder now, that are all willing to work - we just need to learn to speak Spanish

Our state pays $280/ week or the equivalent of about $6/hr.
That would be $7.
It’s not only state money, though.
Unemployment recipients also get a federal kicker.

Welfare wouldn't compete with what a waitress could earn at an understaffed restaurant. Sorry, not buying the manager's excuse.
You never slung plates, did you?

how hard you actually have to work to be successful. These lazy assholes think the world owes them something for just being alive.

Fraudulent documentation? Using friends as work-search references?
Lol, they are literally dealing with billions of $ in fraudulent claims.
They dont have the man power either.
Also individual companies need to deny people that weren't even working for them during the shut down. Get unemployment claims from people who stopped working in 2018.
The length people go to not work is crazy. And they all vote blue.

this story is true (big if) I am guessing the manager is telling the OP what he wants to hear
Doubtful. The manager is likely trying to not lose business, and is being honest.
Had dinner last night and similar situation. Our server literally left the job in hr middle of the shift. Manager came by to explain, as a way to help keep our business in the future.
Inability to hire staff over free state bennies is happening all around you. Open your eyes.

I’ve never seen help wanted signs like this before.

Problem is democrats are putting them up in hotels and giving them paydays.
Not all of them are going to be rushing to jobs either.
Liberals have ruined this country.

You're young and you've got your health . . . what you want with a job?

We ran into same thing last night. Loads of empty tables and hostess said food was taking an hour and a half because their kitchen was understaffed.

What are other states paying for unemployment?
You’re making an assumption that the people who enjoy unemployment would work 40 hours a week.

We went to BJs to watch Aggie women in the sweet 16 a few weeks back. We’re at 100% capacity but it was a Wednesday night so the restaurant was at 30%.
We were told a 30 minute wait for a party of 2. I asked about the entire row of 2 seater booths that were empty and they said no. I asked if they weren’t at 100% capacity and she said they were. I asked why such a long wait and she said we don’t have the cooks or wait staff to keep up with even 50% right now.
Wholdathunk paying people to stay home would have this impact.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/icons/shrug.gif)

That statement could only come from a lazy, government dependent, LIB. That is a pitiful approach to life!

nobody wants to work anymore, they’re getting paid too much to stay home.
That is me. But not because covid or gubment handouts.
When I was 44, the real estate appraisal business wasn't paying me enough to put up with the bullshite.
So we consolidated and sold California real estate. I liquidated my 2 small businesses. Moved back to the farm I had in Oklahoma.
There is not a company in the world that could pay me enough to work. I have way too much fun.
