I was out and about at bars and restaurants all weekend and there'd been a noticeable shift in mask wearing and policy. The restraunts have seemed to leave it up to staff if they want to wear one or not (most didn't) and customers were never asked to wear a mask. We had to wait at a table at a couple places and they were back to just letting us in and chill by the bar until the table was ready.

The first couple of weeks after the mandate was lifted most people were still wearing them and a lot of places still required them.

We back baby, you New Orleans baws can have fun until dark when your shite closes.

Meanwhile our governor is trying to convince the governor of Indiana to keep their mask mandate. Can’t wait till he’s gone.

Good.

Most sane people have had enough with this political theater.

Went to church this morning. I would estimate there were about 1,500 - 2,000 people there and I saw about ten or fifteen masks.

It’s over.

We were getting some garden stuff at Walmart (Home Depot, Lowe’s, and local place didn’t have some planters we wanted, so spare me) yesterday and I was surprised to see that compliance is getting close to below 50%

The first month was mainly who you’d except (white trash, ‘Murcia types, and young sloppily dressed people of all races... not saying anti-mask people are any of those things, but that’s just who didn’t wear masks the first few weeks) but yesterday was soccer moms, older people, college aged kids, the whole gamut.

I’ll wager it will be under 25% by Memorial Day.

I haven't worn a mask hardly at all since I got covid like a month and a half ago. Zero reason for me to wear one not gonna do it just so other people feel better

Haven't had a single person tell me to put one on in any store. Just stop wearing them people

This is in Baton Rouge

Don't fool yourself though. There is still a huge number of people elsewhere in the country still hunkered down in their homes like there's fricking nuclear fallout in the air.

Took my son to Clear Lake Park on Nasa road and was surprised to see people out there still wearing a mask. Saw two people sitting on a bench with masks on talking to a third without a mask. But there weren't a ton of masks, very small percentage.

Went to get Crawfish at Sam's Boat, no masks other than employees.

Went to the grocery store, they are "requiring" masks, but it was about 75% masks. Nobody said anything to anyone not wearing a mask, including myself.

La outside of New Orleans and some of BR has been mask free the entire time basically. You can wear it if you want, but they aren't gonna tell you to put it on. Unless the particular business wants to mandate it.

Most of the restaurants are still abiding by the rules, but the bars are definitely turning into a free for all. I went to Katy Trail Ice House Friday and there weren't very many masks in sight, granted it is outdoors.
