Out of all the highly touted HS players who signed with LSU football over the years, who would you say was the biggest bust? Cecil the Diesel? Ryan Perrilloux?

Russell Shepard. This could be because of Les Miles though.

Gotta be Jonathon Giles. He got number 7 because they assumed he'd be that great.

Maybe Brad Smalling or Josh Booty.

Russell Sheppard has the second highest 247 ranking all time for LSU recruits. I don’t put all of the blame on him but he has to be considered.

Ryan Perrilloux?
Why would this even come to mind?
Without RP we don’t win a National Championship.
A bust should be someone who showed up and was bust. Anthony Johnson, Louisiana sack leader, was terrible at LSU.

Malachi Dupree but a I blame that like 75% on Miles maybe more.

Maybe not the biggest, but Amp Hill needs to be in this thread.

Cecil Collins and Ryan Perriloux were not busts. Cecil Collins had two incredible games then broke his ankle. Ryan Perriloux was the MVP of the SEC championship game. They both had incredible ability but were kicked off the team for off the field issues. 5 star linebacker Clifton Garrett is the correct answer here.

Hakeem Nicks, never played a down and put the team on probation after some position coach tried to get him an apartment. Ended up being a really good NFL player.
There was another DT, I can’t remember his name who was never eligible.

Hallman's Fab 5 running backs?

Chris Pettaway was the consensus #1 rated OL in the US coming out of HS in Miami around 1984 or 85.. I don't know if he ever saw the field. I know for sure he never started a game.
