In April 2020, when many Americans were receiving stimulus payments in the mail or by direct deposit, federal background checks totaled 2.91 million, a 25% jump from the year before, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In December 2020, when many Americans started receiving another round of stimulus payments at the end of the month, federal background checks jumped 34% compared to the year before, according to the FBI.

There’s been a surge in first-time buyers. More than eight million Americans bought a gun for the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic last year, according to an estimate from the National Shooting
Sports Foundation, the gun industry group.

Fatalities from gun violence totaled 43,530 last year, according to the Gun Violence Archive, a 10% rise from 39,529 the year before. That includes homicides, suicides, accidents, mass shootings and self-defense shootings.

The violence continues. The GVA has counted 8,036 deaths so far this year, through March 10.

Just think of how many more guns they could buy if the government didn't mandate they fork over a large chunk of their paycheck to them in the first place.

Id also be interested in the number of deaths caused by people legally buying guns. im willing to be thats a very low number and actually has more to do with the article than just blindly tying in deaths to the amount of guns being bought.

facts be damned though

Take out suicides because that is nonsense adding them into gun violence. Suicides can go under the Covid results.

Guns make it easier to either keep what you already got.

And are increasingly necessary as violence gets out of control in a number of areas.

20 million new gun owners in 2020 alone, shattering previous records. All of them are getting at least some practice rounds.

THIS IS WHY I CAN'T FIND ANY frickING AMMO.

It's not nonsense when you have a narrative in need of "facts" to support it.

Not only am I not getting a stimulus check, I'm going to have to pay about $4500 to the feds this year.

If I got a stimulus check, I'd buy ammo and gold.

People who aren’t serious shooters.

My daughter has a pink rifle, for instance. At best it would be used for target shooting because she sure isn’t capable of getting a deer with it.

You can't find ammo because gun owners realize that ammo is the weak point of the 2nd Amendment. Gov can try to restrict guns, but the courts will smack them down. So they will move to restrictions on ammo.

I just got my 2 stimulus checks in my tax returns for this year. I bought a few hundred rounds 9mm and 223, guess where my next stimulus check is going? More ammo, I would like the thank the US Federal Government for helping to support the gun and ammo industry despite their best efforts to destroy it. Maybe the libs will do a fourth round so I can get even more
