I think there are a ton of bright spots on this team. Last weekend was bad, but I think it will help this relative young team grow quickly.

Beloso is the only position player that played the entire 2019 season, Dugas was hurt for much of that season and Bianco did not play a ton. I know Gio did, but he has been out with the injury.

It still frustrates the shite out of me that PM plays favorites for no reason. Arnold is a SS and needs to play there, he's killing the kids confidence at 2nd.

I like Thompson a lot but I would like to see an infield of Morgan, Doughty, Arnold, and Dugas.

After Gio returns, I would like to see an outfield of Crews, Gio, and Drost.

I still think Wyeth needs to get a weekend start. Give him either a Saturday or Sunday depending on the situation.

"The way the game was played was not all that surprising to me, because there was a stiff breeze blowing in from center field. I knew there weren't going to be any home runs and that we would have to hit-and-run and gamble a bit to get guys into scoring position. When you have a 1-0 game, you're kind of at the mercy of having good luck and hoping the other team doesn't put good at-bats together, but Oral Roberts did that in the eighth, and it changed the entire game."

Some bad luck so far.

While I think he does this, but I think another explanation is that he puts too much value on what they do in practice. Some guys can perform when the pressure is on and they take it up a level. Some guys are practice all stars but can't do it when the lights come on...Allen Iverson, anyone?

We are young

It’s still early

Paul needs to tinker

Paul needs to see who he can count on

All of these excuses don’t explain Hellmers at 3B to start, the use of Bianco, Crews leading off, or the mismanagement of Fontenot.

You know the answer before you even asked the question:

Thompson up until this weekend was carried by the home runs he was hitting but he actually hit the ball really well thIs weekend hopefully he can build on that.

I don’t know what it is but apparently CPM just doesn’t trust Arnold as his everyday shortstop. If he did he would be playing there right now. I am wondering if he is angling to maybe put Doughty at third when he comes back healthy. CPM has a lot of flaws but he usually knows who to put where to have a good to great defense on the field.

This is a tough one for me because Milazzo is so great as a defensive catcher but I also want Wyeth to get more at bats. The starting pitcher has a say in this as well. I want my guy on the mound to trust the guy he is throwing to. Maybe the answer is simply start Milazzo and in his third at bat you make the decision if you need more offense or defense in that spot for the remainder of the game.

Thoughts? We're fricked come SEC play. Not sure what has to be done for Mainieri to bench Bianco.

I defend Mainieri pretty regularly but if he continues to sit talented players for no reason then I'll sit back and let this board eat him alive.

I think we are an average SEC team and will finished toward the middle of the pack. Our best talent at the is extremely young and they will be inconsistent throughout the season.

I think our pitching will keep us in most games.

The worst part is honestly we couldnt afford mistakes on a cupcake OOC schedule we've had and we've made some major mistakes. Our RPI isn't even anywhere close to the Top 100 now. After losing to Oral Roberts yesterday, losing the series, our RPI dropped from #72 to #121 now. I mean, that's really really really bad.

Our RPI was never going to be very good coming out this OOC schedule into SEC play simply because we really dont play much of anyone, but losing 3 games already, especially 2x against Oral Roberts has put us on a mighty hill climb up from here. Our RPI will go up regardless of how we do in SEC play, playing so many good teams there, but we still arent helping ourselves by losing these games against so honestly mediocre to bad teams either. This team needs a 5-0 week so bad this week, Baylor and even UTSA are much better teams than we've been playing so a weekend sweep can go a long way there.

You can tell the potential with this team, but kind of like the 2020 football team, they havent put it all together yet. It took that 2020 football team almost the whole season to put themselves together, and I hope the baseball team doesnt take as long. But you just wonder WTF was going on for that Friday game to happen the way it did against Oral Roberts then to come back on Sunday after stomping them on Saturday to throw up 1 measly run on their Sunday pitching. This team is just highly highly inconsistent at the plate and I still am trying to figure out how Hill went from being one of the top pitchers in the country to literally not being able to get outs from the very start against a frankly bad lineup.

Then of course you have the frustrating features like Mainieri thinking Bianco is somehow an every day starter and our best SS? I literally just dont get it.

Typical Paul Mainieri coached baseball team. Struggle at the beginning of the season against mediocre teams (ORU was 2-6 coming into this series). Then surge toward the middle to end of the season. Maybe even make the SEC playoff and regionals. Then get knocked off in both. The SEC schedule will test them big time. IMO LSU is not a domineering team.

Just my opinion. I hope I'm wrong.

Will be right where we were picked to be. 4-8 in SEC. Late game failures will ensue.

I don't know what's happening with Fontenot this season, or Hill this weekend, but most of the pitching looks pretty good. Friday was a team-wide abortion.

Hitting is YOUNG. Young is going to lead to inconsistency.

The hitting yesterday was terrible. It was good Friday and Saturday. It's been mostly good all year. But with this much youth, there will be times we score 10 runs one night and 1 run the next.

This team has the talent to make it to Omaha. How fast the hitters grow up will tell us if that is this year or next year.

I don’t know what’s going on with Fontenot but he does not need to be the closer right now!

Jekyll and Hyde; just like the basketball team. Just when you think they are finally hitting their stride, they lay an egg in frustrating style. It is still too early to make a judgment on them though.
