Lamar with Billy Tubbs as coach went in 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1983. Made it at least to the second round all those years and to the sweet 16 in 1980.
UAB played their first season as a team in 1978 under Gene Bartow and made the NCAA the first time in 1981 and advanced to the sweet 16. The following season they made it to the elite 8. Pretty amazing accomplishment.
