throwing to 4 different 5 star first round receivers.

This take is so fricking lazy.

Joe Burrow was throwing to three 1st round WRs last year in Jefferson, Chase and Marshall. Why was he considered such a great prospect?

Mac Jones spent 75% of this season throwing to Devonta Smith and this collection of 3-star talent:

Slade Bolden
Miller Forristall
John Metchie
Jahleel Billingsley

Mac just completed the highest rated PFF season ever for a QB and he did it with far fewer weapons than the previous record holder.

Inflated stats won’t help him... Jones better ride the hype train while he has it.

And he also had maybe one of the greatest o lines of all time to throw behind. Let's see what happens when he plays against tighter coverage with less time to throw.

Was coming here to make the same argument. Burrow had similar tools around him that Jones had.

Jones
First round WRs (Smith Waddle Metchie vs Chase, Jefferson and Marshall )
First round RBs (Harris vs CEH)
Both Olines won the best oline awards.

So what makes burrow and Jones different?

Burrow’s advantages
-Athleticism, the ability to move around and out of the pocket and serve as a threat in the running game
-The “it” factor. He leaves everyone he comes into contact with blown away by his football IQ and leadership ability. knows how to get a locker room behind him.
-experience

Jones’s advantages
-Deepball accuracy.

In most other fields they’re very similar. Mac’s lack of mobility will hurt his draft grade, but the argument between him and burrow is slimmer than some might believe.

I’d be happy to see Mac Jones in the black and gold

LSU's 2019 offensive line won the Joe Moore Award for the best OL in the country.

Joe Burrow's season just keeps getting worse and worse, huh?

Waddle played in 4 games this season and John Metchie will be lucky to get drafted in the 3rd round.

His pocket awareness is light years ahead of Burrow's. Joe either takes a sack or scrambles. Jones climbs the pocket and makes a scary accurate throw.

And that was a bullshite award to me. There were so many plays Joe made something out of nothing when the line would break down. We were a good running oline and had issues with the better dlines like auburn

Burrow was elite at feeling pressure, rolling away from it while keeping his eyes down field and making monster plays. 3rd and 17. The strike to jefferson against Georgia in the SEC Championship game come immediately to mind.

Who cares? The last time June Jones was on a NFL sideline was the year Mac Jones was born.

I’ve agreed with the majority of your last few posts but this is a clown statement.

Metchie was a 4 star.
Bolden was arguably a 4 star.
Billingsley was arguably a 5 star.
Forristall was a 3. But with huge upside.

Alabama doesn't take a lot of 3 star guys. So it shouldn't have that many on any unit..

Bolden and Forristal had combined for less than 50 catches

Around 90% of their receiving yards came from 4 and 5 star players

Your takes on this are getting worse and worse, and on top of it you’re flat out making shite up now.

June Jones is a smart dude. I think this is a solid analysis. The NFL passing game is more than deep accuracy now, hell the Saints proved you can have a competent offense and completely ignore the deep ball game. But Lawrence’s dual threat ability isn’t a huge selling point for me and I’d rather have an accurate passer

As a business and getting better, someone could trade down a few spots, get (example) Etienne as rb, and get mac Jones and probably a 2nd rounder.
That kind of move makes a bad team better right away, instead of just getting a single top qb

Cool.

Tell me, was Joe in or out of the pocket when Chase Young ended his season?

I swear you people watch the sportscenter highlights and see Devonta Smith wide open on a couple of plays and craft your entire narrative around it

quote:

And all of this success isn’t entirely because he has open throw after open throw. He's actually thrown into a tight window on 15.2% of his passes this season, a rate that is about four percentage points higher than Tagovailoa's last season and is nearly double that of Justin Fields (8.3%) this year. Oh, and Jones has also been the most accurate passer on tight-window throws this season — by a large margin.

I'm not sure about either QB. Lawrence looked like dog poop in that National championship second half when LSU started blitzing the hell out of him. He has had very soft defenses to face in the ACC. I know we can maybe chalk that down as a bad game, but that kind of pressure will be constant being drafted as a top 5 pick.

He was in the pocket, and got the throw off before getting hit. What exactly is your point here?
