I keep a Taurus g2c in my vehicle so I'm not out much if it gets stolen.

Had a Ruger p95dc stolen out of my truck a few years ago. Dumbass sheriff investigated and now calls me every few months to ask if I found it. Dumbasses.

Yep, stolen out of my truck. I alway left it in the truck so wasn’t exactly sure of the timeframe. Also never called the cops because I didn’t want to get on the “bad gun owner list”

My dad had a Smith Model 15 stolen out of his truck in 1984. He reported it to local Sheriff’s office. Four years later the Chief detective who was a friend called him and told him they recovered it. It was used in a murder. Once the trial was over and the guys first round of appeals were up he was able to get it back. He gave it to me a few years ago.

I’ve had guns stolen out of my truck twice. The first time they caught the dude in Texas the next morning. He still had my Ruger 22/45 but had fenced my Beretta Brigadier. Couldn’t come up with my serial to get the Ruger back from Texas.

Four years later a kid carried my Beretta to pre-school and it was found at nap time. It made the news and I saw it and knew it was mine. Called the police chief and had it back by 3pm.

Second time they stole mine out of my truck and a neighbors as well. He was caught before he could fence and I got them all back.

.45 Rock pistol stolen from truck 14years ago way out in Walker. BR police arrest a guy with it related to a crime 6 months later. Tried for years to get it back from DA H. Moore office, they refused.

So what about guns that were bought P2P with no paperwork? Hypothetically speaking, would one be able to report a stolen gun with make/model and serial number only? How does that work?

I had a 40 stolen in college. I left my truck in tiger land one night and came back the next morning and the back glass was broken. Stereo and gun was gone

Had a Makarov stolen in Dallas about 2004 and it's never been seen again. I hated that because that was one of the most accurate pistols I've owned.

Yes

About 4 years ago my somewhat rare GP100 with a 5 inch barrel was stolen. The EBR Sheriffs recovered it the same night it was taken.

I call every month, so far I’m told that I will get it back when the defendants trial is over. Now they’re telling me the trial is on indefinite hold due to the pandemic. Grrr

I did however learn my lesson about keeping any gun in my vehicle, much less an expensive one.

My uncle died in 1975 and his wife remarried years later. My cousin was 20 and going to tech and one day when he pulled into his drive way from school some guys were walking out of their house with all of his guns (my uncles) except for his hunting rifle (I have now) and a few more in his truck.

They saw him and drove thru the yard and thru the ditch. He chased them for awhile but they got away.

When my cousin died in 1997 he still believed his stepdad had something to do with it.

We never got any of them back and some of them were custom made guns my uncle built. 1 of them was an M1

I had a pistol stolen out of my truck in 2014-2015 time frame. Of course all my others were lost in a boating accident. Tough luck I guess.

A friend of mine had a pistol stolen off his truck and it was used in Tennessee in killing a state policeman. He was visited by some guys in suits until he showed the paperwork where it was stolen.

Yep. Have had 2 stolen. One was found in New Orleans in a drug bust. NOPD has it in "evidence" for 4 years. Won't see that one again.

2nd one is still out there. They got the guy who took it but he says he gave it to a friend who gave it to a friend. I know the guy who took it. Broke into my truck in my driveway

I also had a Makarov stolen out of my Honda Accord back in the '90s.

They are great little pistols.
