O knocked it out of the park with recruiting, but patience still needed with this team

I can't say enough about O and the incredible job he did in recruiting, considering we went 5-5 and were just flat out embarrassed in some games. With that being said, however, we need to exercise some patience this coming season because it's going to take some time for the new coaches and players to gel and we are still going to have a very inexperienced QB!
I'm excited to see how this all plays out because I think the schedule favors a good season for us, if we can weather the rough spots early! The biggest thing I'm looking forward to seeing is a defense that doesn't look completely lost and doesn't give up 40 plus yard plays to wide open receivers. The second thing I'm looking forward to seeing is at least half full stadiums, not the 25 percent allowed now!
I'm ready to go already! Geaux Tigers!

All three returning QBs played significant snaps in 2020.

I mean, things need to get back on track now, not 2023. By that I mean no, I dont expect us to compete for a title this upcoming season, but I expect a very good season, 9-10 wins in 12 regular season games.
Going 8-4 or worse simply wouldnt be acceptable when we return what we did. I would almsot argue 9-3 is a bit disappointing, but if some things dont fall our way could see how that isn't "this fking sucks" territory.

If only O would have done a good job last off-season.

false.

Who is the experienced QB? I don't consider Brennan, who started three games, experienced!

Patience is not necessary. Orgeron took over early in the 2016 season. This will be his sixth season if you count 2016; fifth if you don’t. In a coach’s fifth season, there are no excuses.
I think LSU can and should compete for the national title in 2021. If we don’t make the playoffs we should be extremely close.

I guess my expectations are off, but with everything returning anything less than a top 5 finish would be disappointing to me.
Edited to say not just disappointing but hugely disappointing

No patience. That's just an excuse for another bad year.
Produce.

After playing respectable vs A&M, beating Florida and Ole Miss, I think we are ready for another run for a Championship.
Solid QB play in the A&M would have won that game.

I’ll wait and see how many of these top recruits make it to campus, don’t opt out and don’t transfer after half a season.
I’m more excited about the guys who have played who are returning.

We are at nearly 80% returning production from last season. Our entire OL, all RBs, a dynamic WR in Boutte and experience at the other WR spots with Jenkins, Moore, Palmer and Kirklin. Brennan is a RS JR and Max has significant playing time and proven success. TJ has also shown flashes of potential.
Defense returns the entire DL and adds the #1 DT Smith along with other talented FR DL recruits. Clark and Baskerville return, Sampah and White are quality players and we add Strong (top JUCO LB) and Jones (top cover LB in ACC). Ricks, Stingley, Ward, Flott, McGlothern all return at CB. Hampton and Harris are back and the #1 and #2 safeties Sage and Derick Davis.
If the team doesn't perform well this season (10+ wins minimum) the coaches have not done their job.
I hate when posters say expectation "x" no excuses, but damn we have too much talent, depth and experience to shite it away in 2021.

Hope and pray that he hired the right assistants

He got the guys back that he needed to bridge 2021 to beyond.
No patience should be given. He needs to be developing both lines, esp OL as the veterans give you another year.
He has QBs in the building and nice depth across the board

I think the fanbase was patient enough with the 2020 debacle. This year must be a team playing with fire!

Not even a down played and the excuses are already here.
