Punter U. When you look at Jerry Stoval, Donte Jones, Brad Wing, and now ZVR; I think we could possibly be considered punter U in the near future.

I’m talking Ray Guy award EVERY YEAR.

Also FGKU

our made-field-goals % has been absolutely insanely good since 2018.

Probably one of the worst threads ever started and that’s saying something for this place.

My dude this is never going to happen.

That is probably one of the hardest awards to win, because A) your team has to suck to get the best punting stats B) so many lower tier teams end up with punters who can bomb it and get the opportunity to.

We had games in 2019 where Zach did not even get to punt once.

Do you even Donnie Jones bro?

Most significant punt in LSU history.

ETA:
Ironically, I found this post right after yours. At least the people who know football know who Donnie Jones is.

I don’t know about P.U. but Donnie Jackson definitely added to the DBU legacy.

ETA: googled to make sure I was spelling “Donnie” right, and it did indeed come up “Donte.”

Confused.

You left off Chad Kesler

Kessler's 50.28-yard single-season punting average from his 1997 LSU season was the SEC and NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision record until it was broken by Texas A&M punter Braden Mann in 2018

Probably could still be punting if he was a little more focused on football

Ole Miss. Hanny had a whole comedy bit about it after the game. "We paid to have Zach flown up to Oxford to warm up. That's airfare. A hotel room, couple of meals."

(ETA: Now, the Ole Miss game was weird - Ole Miss only punted 3 times, there were no fumbles lost in the game and only 3 INTs by the teams, combined. Ole Miss did go for it on 4th 4 times, failing 3 times. Their QB, Plumlee, making big runs, extending drives where they often didn't score bled some punts, I believe - should have been 2 or 3 more punts/turnovers had that game been more "normal")

Kessler was All American (1997) and a great punter. However, Donnie Jones was fantastic, as is ZVR. Hard to find any real space between them. Kessler was a boomer, for sure, but Jones hit a 86-yarder (@Kentucky before the miracle, baws).

This. Despite net punting average being a pretty meaningless stat in and of itself, it’s still the first thing people look at. If your team is capable of getting a first down or two, you won’t be bombing every punt 60 yards downfield - the other team would just let it go for a touchback. ZVR was #23 in net average this year.
