Need help with different fish types

My wife has been wanting to incorporate more fish in her diet; especially with lent coming up. However, she doesn't like fish that tastes "fishy". I've given up trying to figure out what that means.

So far she loves Salmon, Tuna
Likes Catfish (surprised me)
Hates Trout

Between the Salmon & Tuna I have 4-5 go to dishes, and I just do grilled catfish since she doesn't care for fried foods. What other fish would the FDB recommend that would be easily available to purchase in NOLA area?

If you have Costco, they have been carrying barramundi a lot lately. It is very good. No “fishy” taste.

Flounder deboned and stuffed with either crab, shrimp or crawfish dressing/stuffing and baked.

Scallops lightly grilled with a butter/lemon/garlic sauce slathered on them as they cook.

Catfish or redfish Courtbouillon

Grilled grouper is great, as is grilled shark with its firm meat and zero bones to deal with.

Try grouper, Maui Maui, flounder, snapper. Sam's, Costco and Restaurant Depot all carry that.

Primarily Rainbow, but I think Sams carries Steelhead which is what she bought last time

I agree with her. I am not a fan of rainbow trout either. We caught some in CO and cooked within a couple of hours. I was so excited until after the first bite.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I think I'm going to try some Flounder and/or Snapper next.

Can't believe I forgot about Flounder. Was always my go-to dish at one of the restaurants on West End that didn't return after Katrina, name eludes me.

Fresh Market has fresh cod and Chilean sea bass that are white, flaky with a neutral flavor.

is it a fishy taste that she dislikes or the smell? if you have some fish that smells strong soak it in milk for a bit. there's a legit chemical process that the proteins in the milk put on the fish smell compounds and makes it go away. epicurious

Brunnings? Fitzgerald's was done in by Georges, I believe.

I have salmon and rice a few times a week. I just marinate it in soy sauce and brown sugar. I have a rice cooker and I just place the salmon in a steamer basket above the rice. It's quick and easy. I still prefer grilled salmon, but this is quick, easy, and pretty tasty.

Yeah, they used to have super cheap crawfish on Sundays.
