Salad bars and Chinese buffets.

I stopped eating at those long ago. The only type of place that i would enjoy like that is a Brazilian steakhouse. I guess those are probably going away as well

Eh. The public school stuff is all about funding. Once they get their money, they won't care anymore. Public schools just realize how much leverage they have and they flexed it.

It seems like Public schools in good school districts are already normal

I know St. Tammany here has been in person all year

In a big way.

I guess my only concern is that they carry the quarantine madness into next year's flu season.

But I think society will give a teachers a giant "stfu" next August as next school year ramps up.

am concerned bars won't be open until 2 AM anymore (and even later on nights that aren't Sat night/Sun morning). I've heard DUIs have gone down 40%, at least here. Then again who knows if that figure is true, but it makes sense.

Couldnt care less
Nothing good happens after midnight anyways

We've been in person all year too, but its not "normal"

Parents can't just come and go (we have to make an appt), no large gatherings (instead of watching the school play at the school, they made us buy a $20 DVD), and the older kids still are supposed to wear masks

Small retail businesses on mainstreet
Local Fine dining restaurants in non-tourist locations
24 hour bars
A LOT of indoor music venues and large music festivals
Movie theaters
Mid-sized chain Big box retail clothing stores
Trying on clothes at the store
Freedom of movement to travel via airplane (especially internationally) without a ton of extra steps, papers, and examinations

Why would they be going away when they're operating now?

Correct, us as well

I meant the public schools in places where people give a shite have done the right thing, public schools in places run by pieces of shite have taken advantage of the situation

Grocery shopping. Instacart Costco, Instacart pickup from Rouses, Target Pickup, and Total Wine pickup. Literally never have to shop in a store again. I love it!

Visiting family in nursing homes
I don’t think we will have the freedom to come & go whenever like before Covid

but that was probably going to happen anyways and COVID just expediated the process

which is how I feel about a lot of the businesses closing during this

That's not a bold prediction because they were barely hanging on before COVID.

Then why say AMC is opening this week in response to movie theaters being mentioned among things that will likely not survive the pandemic?

You don't find it to be expensive?

I looked at it last year for Albertson's and the prices were really high so I just did the regular Walmart pickup instead.

Because theatres were going away before the pandemic. That's the point but AMC did open this week.

Yes and no. I asked my toddler if he wanted to go with me to get groceries this past Sunday. When we pulled into the spot, received groceries, and started to leave he lost his shite. Had to go inside and buy a slice of shitty, grocery-store king cake.
