Zelda fan who never played Ocarina of Time

I know, I know. Never had an N 64. I picked at the game here and there at friends' houses but never really played through it. Loved the original Zelda, played through Link to the Past thousands of times, loved Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword was ok. Obviously bought a Switch just for Breath of the Wild when it came out and loved that.
I have always heard Ocarina of Time was the goat. Would like to go back and play it now. Question is, do I have to buy a retro N-64 or are there any plans to release it on the Switch? I googled it and have found a lot of contradicting information and don't follow gaming news that close. Also, don't really like to play emulators on my PC. Prefer the real deal on my TV.
Never come to this board, but thought I would give it a shot.

I had it on a 3ds (literally the only reason I bought one) and play it every other year or so.

Back before achievements were a thing, I spent so many hours trying to collect all the gold skultulas, bottles and heart pieces.

I'm jealous that you get to play it for the first time

Just an incredible game the whole way through. An all time great game even for non Zelda fans
Also OP you missed WindWaker and Majora’s Mask. Both are worth playing if you’re a Zelda fan

Also OP you missed WindWaker and Majora’s Mask

Regardless of whether they release an updated Switch port for it or not you should go get an old N64. There were so many great games and if you have friends/kids/whatever nothing still beats the multiplayer experience of Goldeneye, wcw/nwo Revenge, Mario kart 64, ect.

The only thing that won't be recaptured is how big the game felt at the time.
After playing some of the more gigantic games of hte past decade or so, the world won't feel quite as huge and epic as it did back in the day.
But the dungeons, oh man, they really don't get better, the atmosphere of each is incredible.

Thank you for getting one of the songs stuck in my head. I just remember sitting there with my brother and us playing the song over and over. I want to say its one of the first songs you learn in the game. duh duh duh, duh duh duh, duh duh duh.
Majora's Mask, didn't you have to beat the game within 72 game hours?

OoT is easily one of the best video game soundtracks of all time. I don't see how anyone could make a top 5 that doesn't include it.
Maybe you're thinking of the Goron theme? It's very duh duh duh.

Sorta but not in real time, there is a "the world ends in 3 days" mechanic and you gotta use/manipulate. You can reset time but that resets progress on certain things.

OoT is the greatest game ever made. It’s the general concensus. It holds up very very well and was only handicapped by the system it was made for.

I do think they have a N64 classic in the works in the next year or two.
If you can't wait for that and have a WiiU, you can play it on that system.
I also recently got into Zelda games having never played them until BotW. I've gone back and played the OG Zelda, Link to the Past, and the one that just got a remade version on Switch.
I started playing Ocarina on my WiiU not too long ago and had a hard time getting into it after an hour or so but I need to revisit and give it more time.
