Here comes a bunch of pussys to cry about Ed knowing him
We could replace Bill Busch with Pete Carroll and they’d whine because they coached together
Literally not a single person has said anything like that. In fact everyone is upset at the fact that we may NOT get him. This is different than a drinking buddy hire. This is a HIGHLY skilled young coach everyone should want

Amen brother. Amen.
I begged all day yesterday to get those shitty Saints threads off tRant because not all LSU fans are Saints fans. There are some seriously small minded LSU fans. If any of them knew how much most of us HATED NOLA AND TULANE, they would understand the r hatred for that shitty organization especially for thematic shitty Archie Manning.
frick tre Saints.

CSP hates LSU, but Ed O loves the Saints.

He’s worth it, too. Wink is a really good coach. Surprised he hasn’t gotten a head job yet.

I just don’t understand how they plan on signing talented assistants in the future with a “no upward mobility until we say so” policy

Considering we just had one of if not the worst defensive performances in program history, ANY hire would be a home run hire.
That said, I like and want Nielsen as DC.

I think the Saints are fighting harder due to what happened with Brady more than to keep Nielsen. Not taking anything away from him. He may be the D version of Brady. But the Saints have to protect themselves from getting double burnt

Anyone will be a step up from Bo!!!

As an LSU fan this makes me dislike the Saints.

As an employer in my working days, I never, repeat never, blocked any employee from moving on to another position that they felt helped them better themselves; just like Jorge Munoz, the door was always left open for them to return if they found that the "grass was not greener on the other side"! Because they are a big business , guess the Saints look at it differently under their contractual set-up??? But in the end, why block a person seeking what may be a better job opportunity?

So there's nothing wrong with not wanting a coach, who knows the inner workings of your team, to go to a different team in your division, that you play twice a year.
Sports leagues are different than the regular market economy.

Lol, every team in the NFL does this, repeatedly. You can find examples again and again and again and again.
This is not big deal. They are using a contract provision to get something they want.

And FYI, Sean Payton is on record, this year and most years, as saying he loves it when one of his guys gets a promotion because it means they are doing something right.
They wouldn't have been able to block a move to an NFL DC or HC.
In this case they are simply using a contract provision to get a concession. Not a big deal.

College coaches work twice as hard....
THe college schedule is almost year-round.
- Recruiting
- Spring ball
- Summer Camps
- Recruiting visits
- Academics - keeping guys eligible
- Then Fall camp starts in Aug and it's almost 24-7
NFL coaches coach ball. They have a much more stable / reliable home life. NFL coaches have an offseason. I'm sure they're working but.... they're not flying across the country to visit recruits.
College is a tougher, more consuming job. So.... I can see why college coordinators make more money

It will excite me if they actually sign him. If it drags on in the courts over his contract with the Saints and we end up not getting him it will be disaster. Why is it we don't know about these things beforehand? Why do we only end up with two candidates for major positions and if they fall through we have nothing? As many millions as the Athletic Dept. has in it's budget and as many people as they employ, shouldn't they always have a list of up and coming coaches that they constantly evaluate and update? Shouldn't they know which ones are viable and which are not?
