If the saints are fighting this hard to keep him you gotta believe the guy is a home run hire. Everything I’ve heard from Saints beat writers about him is great. He’s done a great job with the Saints D Line.

I personally believe the saints wanted to keep him as their next D Coordinator when Dennis Allen got another head coaching job. The saints fighting this has got to excite LSU fans about the potential.

example A: Trey Hendrickson. don't blame them for wanting to benefit from this.

I don’t disagree, but I can’t imagine it being that hard to pull him from LSU DC to come be DC for the Saints, right? They should stop being so lame if that is their end game and just offer him when they’re ready.

To me, this has more to do with what happened with Brady than anything.

He leaves for a college job, helps win a NC, and then heads back to the NFL as OC of a division rival.

Maybe Loomis is trying to prevent a repeat.

Nielsen is the Saints insurance policy if Allen bolts for a HC position.

The analogy of what happened with Brady heading to the NFL is spot on.

as of like 2 seasons ago the highest (reported) paid DC in the NFL was still under $1mil.
LSU paid each of the last 2 well more than double that guys salary. Pelini was closer to 3x’s.

so i wouldn’t say it’s that cut and dry for Saints to hire him away as DC.

Allen isn’t going anywhere this year. Hasn’t had an interview and most of the HC spots are filled

This is Peyton and Loomis being salty about losing again in the playoffs. It is particularly ridiculous because Nielsen is an Orgeron guy. Played for him in college and got his start on coaching because of O.

Guys like Brady and Nielsen can’t be held in reserve in case a coordinator leaves a few years from now. Peyton was the dumbass who told Brady going to LSU would be a mistake. Good call there

Some Saints fans wonder why LSU fans can hate the Saints. Screw the Saints.

I like it but I don't like it, once they go pro it seems like that's where they want to be like brady. If we do get him when does he leave for a pro job?

If he leaves for a pro job that means our defense will have significantly improved over the disaster of last season

And at what point were the panthers a threat to the Saints?

They aren't fighting to keep him. They're making sure his contract prevents him from going to a division opponent if he comes back to the NFL sooner than expected. Like Brady did.

Here comes a bunch of pussys to cry about Ed knowing him

We could replace Bill Busch with Pete Carroll and they’d whine because they coached together
