Lafayette people really think this guy is the next coming of God.
Cmon...Turning down Aub and if he is offered by Tenn would be a massive gamble on himself. ULL still lost to Coastal Carolina last year. He is from the north Georgia/Tennessee border so its plausible he knew about pruitt and was waiting for the Tenn job. Unless he wants to be a ULL lifer. I can't imagine a better time to jump in the SEC.

Just says NCAA violations that happened under his watch.
Fulmer is also retiring but that's not tied to the NCAA stuff

Napier is waiting for the Bama or LSU job. I think that's obvious right now. Most likely Bama when Saban retires.
You really think Napier is going to hang around in Lafayette for the next 7 years while Saban continues to coach at Bama?

Tennessee hired a law firm to conduct an investigation into their own program. I'm assuming to find enough violations so that they could fire him without paying the buyout.
My guess is they are just being cheap, otherwise they would've fired him earlier.

So this search is already at about 25% of the craziness that their last search was.

Bama would not risk hiring a potential Tom Herman 2.0. Hot G5 coaches are very hit and miss when they get a big time job.
It’ll be Dabo or bust for Bama. If they whiff on him I see them looking to the NFL. But that’s years away anyway.

They are just desperate to make a change in the world of the "pandemic". Desperate being an understatement. The school essentially invited the NCAA to investigate them so they can fire their HC for cause.
I thought Pruitt was a dumb hire from the beginning. You have to think they are considering Malzahn and/or Freeze, right? Sure, both have had their issues at other SEC schools. But if you are Tennessee and haven't been anywhere close to competing for over a decade, the accomplishments of those guys might look pretty good to you.

You can probably add Clemson to the list of schools Napier would hold out for.

I said this on the Auburn Board:
quote:
So far with their search we have a coach fired for cause, the AD who got who the previous AD fired so he could take his job retiring, a hiring freeze put in place when they started investigating the recently fired coach, AND a hiring of a former DC and UT alum, who allegedly undermined his previous HC to try and get the HC job, to the staff with no official title during said hiring freeze that was approved by their board.
And the job has only been open for like an hour.
They'd be smart to hire Malzhan IMO.
But I've got a feeling that the Steele hire last week is no coincidence.

East side? Yep. West side? NO---too many good Coaches to have to play every year.

Not trying to take a shot at TN but doesn’t the job lose a little bit of luster after the admin digs up dirt on the HC in order to get out of paying what they owe him?

I don't understand people who say TN is a good job.
It isn't 1997.

Malzahn would be the perfect hire for that program but they’ll likely hire Steele and continue to suck

Not a bad run for a coach that didn't know what asparagus was 15 years ago during his time in Hoover.

Pruitt needs to enter the new Ed O bayou school for coaches that need rehab

Besides saban is there really an elite coach in the West as of now? O can only afford to have a two loss season max next year or else He's going to be on the hotseat aswell. The SEC West is really not that dominant currently. The jury is still out on O even though I love the man.

What if they found things that the NCAA wouldn't have? Could they have incriminated themselves while trying to oust Pruitt cheaply?
