It is time to go all in...on the future.

It is time to end this strategy of trying to win now and trying to amass assets for the future. This dual David Griffin strategy of being solid enough to win now while not being very good, and trying to amass young talent and picks for the future needs to end.
There are no fans in the stands to worry about attendance. People really aren't paying that close attention.
Dump Lonzo, dump JJ, dump bledsoe. Heck, if the right deal presents itself, dump Hart.
Get young players. Get picks. Get cap flexibility.
Let Kira and NAW and Jax play and go through the growing pains. Get a high draft pick. The future is now, lets go all in on the rebuild.

i agree i don't get this middle of the road shite
what we're seeing is a problem of hiring a guy like SVG
same with Zion's issues

Yeah that hire made it pretty clear that we are going to continue that strategy. I don't agree with it but that's what we are going to do.
SVG is a good coach and he can get us to win.
I wanted us to hire someone like Will Weaver and go young with the roster but whatever.
I just think it is time now to go all in on this, while no one is watching.

I'd dump Adams before Hart. I absolutely love Adams but he just doesn't fit with Zion unless our 1-3 guys are knockdown shooters. That being said, Hart needs to be a lot better than what he has been this year.

Adams is so bittersweet. I love all his stregths.
I'm gonna look at this actually as a blessing, rather than a curse. I hope playing with Adams is going to force Zion into building a more all-rounded game.
All the all time greats work and work and work at their craft.
He's still basically relying on natural, God given talent at this point.
There's no point jettisoning Hart. He's a streaky shooter, but he's a pretty good glue guy otherwise
He knows his role and he gives 110% each game

I think you need that veteran presence with such a young roster. But where you can argue we've gone wrong is all of our veterans are high paid players that deserve minutes. Adams at 27M, Bledsoe at 17M, Redick at 13M.
There's nothing wrong with that, but where is the 10 year vet making the league minimum?

Don't think we can dump Adams anytime soon per league rules.

The thing about Adams is he's playing really well. If we decide he doesn't fit we should be able to flip him and get back in the ball park of what we paid to acquire him.
I don't have a problem trying to win now considering where BI is, but it should be done with long term pieces. Like had Lonzo worked out as the #3 that would change things a lot, but he hasn't so finding those other pieces needs to be the priority over winning.

Adams presence is critically important for Hayes. The skills he'll learn from Adams will be invaluable to his career development. If Hayes minutes goes up that will directly affect Adams minutes. That's a good balance to have.

Start winning and those vets will come to us.
Adams at 27mil for now is fine, Bledsoe and Redick for what they produce for 30mil is not. Bledsoe at this point is at least producing SOMETHING. Redick has been so cold that I think its fair to say he's cost us games this year.

Trades we need:
Lonzo to Houston for Tucker and House
JJ to Brooklyn for Dinwiddie
Bledsoe to Boston into their TPE
Sign Isiah Thomas to a minimum deal as a vet backup guard
Opens up the playing time Kira and NAW needs, gives JJ his championship opportunity, and we lose no veteran presence.
Also, opens up our full 9.3 million non taxpayer MLE to use in the buyout market if the right player becomes available and we choose to use it.

Zion needs to develop a jump shot. Zion needs to be better. There are not many centers that are going to fit next to him as is, and they won't be cheap

You're not getting Tucker and House for Lonzo...he doesn't carry that much value and Houston, arguably, got better after the Harden trade. Tucker fits better now than he did before.
I know I've said this in other threads but the move, again, is Lonzo, Melli, and a 2nd for Aminu...we actually save $2m. And you also save on the cap next year without having Zo's cap hold as a RFA. Kick the problem to someone else. Can use that $6m saved for an Ilyasova or try to move JJ or Bledsoe into someone's exception to sign Ilyasova and Daniels. Those are the type of vets that are low usage that won't command big minutes but still help us grow.
I'd move JJ before Bledsoe. The Brooklyn deal makes sense or you can move him to Philly for Korkmaz or Ferguson
Bledsoe - Kira - Dinwiddie (injured)
NAW - Hart - Daniels
Ingram - Aminu - Korkmaz
Zion - Ilyasova - Gabriel
Adams - Hayes - Hernangomez

He's shown some of that mid range this year. Teams will happily give him that shot every time. I don't think that is the answer though. His bully ball is always going to be more effective than his mid range. Teams won't defend him differently because he shoots mid range shots. He'll develop the effectiveness of the shot over time but the answers going to have to be shooting off the dribble all the way out to the 3 point line. He has to be able play on ball at a high level to reach that absolute ceiling.

I've been saying this since before the season started. I understand both strategies of wanting to win now or building for the future but the Pelicans seem to be in some sort of limbo. I think you have to choose one or the other. If a player isn't apart of your future plans or you can flip more for draft capital, they need to be shipped out. Maybe that happens closer to the trade deadline. I love guys like JJ and Bledsoe but if you can't get it done with them then they should be traded.

What does Boston give us for Bledsoe and why do they want him? Would that have tax implications for Boston?

Tucker is not fetching anything more than a couple 2nds. Lonzo's value is way more than that.

Dinwiddie would be a guy we could evaluate while we rehab his ACL and decide if we want to keep or not. He's also a great veteran, and does what's needed to help the team win no questions asked. His fit with this team is also great.
As for Bledsoe, taking him in to Boston's TPE would have them about 2.4 million into the tax, which would be very easy to get out of. I would ask for a lottery protected future 1st from them, but the real asset for me would be the playing time for Kira and NAW along with the available space

Those are all terrible deals.
Dinwiddie is going to opt out, so you just traded JJ for nothing.
Lonzo is worth more than Tucker/House.
Do you honestly think Bledsoe is worth absolutely nothing? and he's redundant with Smart, and that would put the Celtics into the tax.
Bledsoe isn't going anywhere until the offseason. Teams that would want him have nothign to give us, and most teams aren't looking to take on future salary for someone like Bledsoe.
Lonzo and Lakers 22 1st for Markannen, Temple, Bulls 21 2nd.
Redick to Celtics into their TPE for their 21 1st. Celtics still stay out the tax with that.

Bled should go to Houston if Wall/Boogie have the influence now.
