And so no matter what you do to become happy, you are bound to fail. The backbone of a materialistic consumer society. We are programmed and lied to from cradle to grave. Food for thought on this Friday.

The world is full of little bitches who just cannot accept that human existence involves much mental and/or physical suffering.

I have been programmed from the beginning to love God and trust Him and seek Him and put Him first in my life.

It’s when I fall away from that and try to do life on my own....that I’m the most unhappy.

Yes, and this is why I pull back from large amounts of stuff dealing with other people’s bullshite when possible.

I can control my own life to a degree. I’m not going to make myself miserable with envy of someone else or with being a Karen and micromanaging how they do things because they piss me off.

No, as I'm not "unhappy".

People who are, just need to find things that make them happy, and then do more of them.

While I think many who have clinical depression need therapy and drugs to help them, the rest just need to fricking buck up and make the choice to be happy. Stop wallowing in your own self pity and go enjoy yourself.

This is what happened: First your society and your culture taught you to believe that you wouldn’t be happy without certain persons and things. Look around you. Everywhere people have built their lives on the unquestioned belief that without certain things like money, power, success, approval, reputation, love, friendship etc. that they cannot be happy. What is your particular combination?

Good point, but it won’t stop us from trying to put the square peg in the round hole in our life and make it fit.

Wasn't directed towards you, just people in general.

Glad you are well.

I agree, but I can tell you from personal experience that it’s much easier said than done.

Agreed. Modernity has failed us. Consumerism is a plague that we have willfully contracted.
