I’m sure there have been many threads on this but I’m late to the party. I just started watching and am 5 episodes into the first season, I’m hooked. I don’t know the specifics but I’ve heard it falls flat in the last season, should I stop now or is it truly worth watching the entire series? Thanks in advance
Season one: WTF
Season two: not as good as season one but the last episode and a half or so had my mind blown.
About to kick off season three (high expectations hoped for)
Bump

Enjoy it. It’s not going to end satisfyingly, but it’s still worth a watch. Those first 5 seasons were some of the best TV ever. And since you’re bingeing, maybe you won’t be as keyed on the stories and characters as those who read the books and waited for the episodes, so you may have a different perspective on the show’s last season.
I wish I could zap my memory and rewatch GOT and Breaking Bad. Always semi-jealous of people watching for the first time.

Funny you say that, whenever asked what I wish my “super power” was I respond with the ability to watch movies again for the first time. I know, that’s insanely self-centered. As far as the show goes thanks for the heads up. I’ll watch a few episodes then go a day or so then watch a few more

Super incredible TV, enjoy season 4 ( try to eat some chicken watching the last part of the first episode of it). Season 7 is illogical crap & season 8 is pure aids but it’s honestly the best TV show in the world for the majority of its existence.

Popeyes (obviously I’ll have to pull up and wait) or homemade chicken?

I don't know how you can do this, but I binged a few seasons before I caught up and I enjoyed the ancillary stuff more once I had caught up.
I would chat with random people about their theories as to what happens next, watched bingemode episodes the next morning for things I missed or didn't get, etc. It was more of an experience that added to everything.
My FIL binged it a while back and he saw the ending coming, which when binging isn't as difficult to see, I guess. But I remember watching it in real time and wouldn't have picked the ending.

It's still pretty good through 6 although 5 is kind of a drop off. At that point you might as well finish it but it is a very unsatisfying conclusion.

Why would you give up on 6-7 seasons of a show you enjoy simply because 1 of the seasons is bad?

I didn't watch Breaking Bad when it aired. But I've watched every episode of Better Call Saul. I decided to wait until it ends and then binge Breaking Bad for the first time.
By all accounts, that's going to be a great way to do it.

Stop watching after season 6. It’s a fantastic ending if you stop there.

GOT is still one of the great TV shows ever. While the finale season left fans with mixed feelings doesn't take away how the overall story is good.
Enjoy the ride.

Definitely watch it all, if for nothing else so you have your own opinions about how it ends.
I'll say this, which may help you...for all the hate the last season+ gets, there are still some really good moments in the show. Yes, a lot of the hate is deserved and some things don't make much sense or are just flat out stupid, but there are still some really solid moments with characters that you've gotten to know throughout the show. So while you may be disappointed once it's over, the fact that you've never seen it before and are binging it (assumedly) pretty quickly may mean that you aren't as invested in the stories and plots as those who watched as it aired. So in the end what bothers most people may not bother you near as much.
In fact, I'd bet most people who binge it like it more than ones who didn't.
Keep us posted (bump this thread) as you go to let us know how you're enjoying it.

while i definitely recommend anybody watching it, the last season ruins the character arcs for so many people.
we signed up for HBO Max and i can honestly say i'll never watch any episodes after season 6 except for the wight hunt and the long night. even those episodes are pretty bad compared to the rest of the series, but they're enjoyable.

I honestly don't know if it's worth watching. I've never soured on something more than GOT. I tried a rewatch a few months ago and made it one episode before I just had to turn it off. I would go back and tell my self not to waste the time on it personally.
I guess just do it so you can say you hated it with everyone else. You'll know all the cultural references as well.

And maybe since you'd heard everyone say how horrible it is, your last season expectations will be so low that you won't be disappointed like the rest of us.

7 and 8 are both god awful and it’s no coincidence they’re the 2 truncated seasons. You might as well finish it if you get that far but its bad. Cinematography and effects stay top notch for the most part though.

Season 8 felt like a CBS drama. So much cringe dialogue throughout. Felt like a completely different show. I enjoyed 5/6 and 7 had its moments. 1-4 are All Time.

I found the seasons drop in quality past season 4. Be ready to have your expectations subverted throughout the show.

I mean I’m not going to tell you not to watch it. Up until the end I loved the show probably more than any
But now after seeing it through all that love turned to distain, and I can’t bring myself to watch it again because it will just make me mad again about how bad they fricked it up.
