Yeaaah that's why I said there is a drop off...

I attempted to bump the thread but it wouldn’t permit me to do so, perhaps I was doing it wrong (I’m new to this online forum business).
I updated the OP and am about to kick off season three

I really liked season 3. The first six seasons are some of the most amazing tv you'll ever watch. I even liked seasons 7 and 8, but they were different... Not a fan of the ending, but I won't spoil it for you.

Dexter came real close for me, but GoT takes the top spot for most disappointing conclusion. The last two seasons are fan fiction written by a 14 year old girl.

Or he saw the spoilers all over the web the last few years

I bought the first book in January of 1999. I'm done waiting on them.

We did a total rewatch about nine months after it ended and there were so many things in the early years that I had just glanced at as if they were time filler, when they were part and parcel of the story line.

I’m sure there have been many threads on this but I’m late to the party. I just started watching and am 5 episodes into the first season, I’m hooked. I don’t know the specifics but I’ve heard it falls flat in the last season, should I stop now or is it truly worth watching the entire series? Thanks in advance

End it at the end of the 6th Season. After that, anything you imagine will be better.

I honestly don't know if it's worth watching. I've never soured on something more than GOT. I tried a rewatch a few months ago and made it one episode before I just had to turn it off. I would go back and tell my self not to waste the time on it personally.

I guess just do it so you can say you hated it with everyone else. You'll know all the cultural references as well.

I'm kind of the same way. Even with the people that hate the end of LOST, everyone says that the characters ended on a satisfactory note with a select few exceptions. Game of Thrones... the end is just completely awful. The plot and the characters end on an absolute low note.

I thought season 7 was fine. Wasn’t as good as earlier seasons but still good. Season 8 was good for the first 3 episodes then it took the whole series off a cliff

Just post a new post in the thread and it will bump it. You don't have to keep editing the OP (although you can if you prefer, obviously).

But this thread is not anchored, so any new posts will bump it to the top of the board.

The single dumbest moment of the show was in Season 7.

The third episode was a fricking disaster and anticlimactic as frick. The only episode worth a shite in season 8 is the 2nd episode.

Trying to avoid spoilers, but the dumbest shite in the entire show was Euron's fleet going from American Sniper level marksmanship to Stormtrooper accuracy within 2 episodes.

The Long Night
Could've been better and should've been stretched out over multiple episodes, but had me on the edge of my seat for the entire episode.

I would say objectively, The Long Night (episode 3 of last season), that's as good a stopping point as any.

The major problems started in season 7. It was at that point the show become shortened and thus rushed and causing the characters to become dumber in order to advance the plot. They tried to make up for the writing by trying to make the show cooler like with the going beyond wall episode.

Same. I think it’s because of the amount of time and energy (because of how great it truly was) I devoted to it. After season 4 I rewatched all episodes in the month leading up the newest season. I listened to multiple podcasts, one that was book readers spoilers and on that was strictly show to get different perspectives, really dive into the lore, theories, etc. Spent plenty of time on the subreddit and on here discussing.

Then season 7 happens and it was like a a slow painful car wreck. The tone of the podcasts, discussions, etc all changed because they all just tried to excuse the poor story, shortcuts, etc. hoping it was just the means to an epic conclusion. Then as season 8 progressed it was obvious it couldn’t be excused and it was just shite...then it ends and it’s all a mockery

It really might not be as bad binge watching it all because you didn’t have the insane buildup and discussions and theories between each season, especially with the peak between seasons 6 and 7. but the slow decline in 7-8 can’t even be explained in words. Just painful, awful, disappointing, shite

I don’t disagree with you necessarily, but let’s try to avoid spoilers since OP is watching for the first time.

i know people don't love the ending of that, but i enjoyed the whole episode. and i agree. i'll never watch an episode past that again.

but it's in lost category. even if there were some crappy parts, it's a hard go to make amazing television for multiple seasons, nonetheless 1. both series did it for the beter part of a decade.
