watch it. its good but does fall in quality near the end. the ending isnt as much a shite show as others will claim but it is disappointing.

The broad strokes of the ending aren’t the problem. Who dies, certain actions, etc. it’s the abrupt nonsensical way they arrive to it for the most part.

That’s been GRRM’s problem for nearly two decades

the problem is that EVERYTHING that happens before season 6 leading up to the finale doesn't matter.

Nothing.

Seasons 1-4: Best show in the history of television
Seasons 5-6: best show of its genre on tv at the time
Season 7: kinda bad, but fun
Season 8: so bad that it’s no longer fun, almost TLJ level bad in making everything before it substantially worse

The last season is every bit as bad as people say. They completely disregarded the entire story/characters.

Yeah mixed feelings would be like LOST. A lot of people hated the ending while others love it.

But I don’t think I’ve come across people who love the ending of this show. At most some people were ok with it.

I’ve heard it falls flat in the last season

It ends where you would reasonably expect it to end, only they end it in six episodes when it needs eighteen for proper closure.

The last two episodes of season 6 might be the greatest back-to-back episodes of television ever.

The Light of the Seven and Battle of the Bastards, love it.

a very unsatisfying conclusion.

if the rest of the content wasn't so incredible, the ending wouldn't have been so unsatisfying and disappointing.

With that being said, enjoy the ride. It's a fantastic show with a lot of great moments and incredible twists and turns.

I honestly don't know if it's worth watching. I've never soured on something more than GOT. I tried a rewatch a few months ago and made it one episode before I just had to turn it off. I would go back and tell my self not to waste the time on it personally.
Good point, but in my opinion that's actually a recommendation to watch it.

The final season hurts BECAUSE the early seasons were so good, they suck you in completely.

I fought in the M/TV Game of Thrones wars. For six seasons, it was the greatest show in the history of television. Some say it fell off before then, but I think that most of them would agree that by the time you get to the Season 6 finale, your balls explode and you sit wondering what you just watched. Study this helpful graph. This is perfectly accurate.

As someone else said, watch the first seasons and then just imagine what happens next. Nothing you imagine could be as disappointing and stupid as what actually does happen. I'm not sure any ending would or could have satisfied all viewers, especially some of the pissier ones here, but what we got was just wrong. So wrong.

After season 6, read the books, while vainly hoping for the 2 remaining books to be released.
