Let's be honest here...if he gets offered a DC job at Texas he takes it unless LSU can match something to make him happy. That's instantly jumping past all those hurdles you just said and a power school on top of rich boosters that will make him happy financially.

He ain't going anywhere for a slide over to DB coach someone else. That's not even a lateral move for him.

That would be a terrible hire for Texas with the splash that they're trying to make right now.

So he’s going to hire a DL coach and DB coach before hiring a DC?

If they hire Raymond (CB) and Davis (DL), along with the hire of Gideon (S and ST) already, I am fairly sure they already have their DC picked at this point. That being said, having Davis and Raymond on staff would most likely make 90% of all potential DCs happy, some maybe they are just doing it completely backwards once Muschamp said "No".

I know it would. I just think it would be crazy for them to make a guy who’s never run a defense on his own a DC. And I don’t think they get him without either offering him an insane salary for a position coach, or a Co-DC role. Or both.

Which is why it's not going to happen.

At some point I think Raymond has to leave if he has aspirations to become a DC.

Yeah, except you don't go to Texas to be a DB coach if you want to be promoted to DC.

Ah the annual “Corey Raymond is leaving LSU to be a DB coach somewhere else” thread. That train is never late.

My point wasn't that he would be promoted at Texas but rather he would have more opportunities elsewhere if he is successful at another major program.

Additionally you laughed at the thought of him going to Texas as if they are a second rate program.

In reality, whether justified or not, they are often included in the conversation as to who is DBU.

Looks like Saban told Sark to offer him, so that Saban could tell DB recruits that Raymond is out looking for another job for the 15th year in a row.

If Raymond wants to be a DC, he needs to try and land a DC job at a G5 school.

Look at Marcus Freeman right now.

The problem with some of these highly paid position coaches at elite schools, is that they have no motivation to take a risk.

Would Corey take perhaps a cut in pay and move to be a DC at a La. Tech type school? That's often what it takes to move up the ladder.

If he wanted to be a DC, he should've made a move a long time ago.

Bo Pelini age: 53
Corey Raymond age: 51

Our fans thought Bo was too old.
