Why no more Deshaun Watson buzz?

So I get that to get the MVP you gotta produce in the W/L column, but seems like he should at least be more talked about for POTY honors. Yes stats aren't everything, but he stacks up pretty damn well with boy wonder Mahomes:
Deshaun:
-4823 passing yards
-544 attempts
-70% completion
-33 TDs
-7 INTs
Mahomes:
-4740 passing yards
-588 attempts
-66%
-38 TDs
-6 INTs
All behind one of the worst OLs in the game, with no WRs, and either the biggest laughing stock of a coach in BOB or a 73 year-old perennial loser interim Romeo Crennel.
If he doesn't get some help and better leadership from that organization soon he should go nuclear Jimmy Butler and force his way out. The dude is too damn talented to be stuck there.

People will say empty stats, but he's improved drastically. And not turning the ball over as much

Yeah he was amazing to watch this season. Especially after BOB got fired he really turned it on. Competent coaching and Texans are probably at least a .500 team with him even with a bad roster. It’s a damn shame that they finally have a franchise QB and BOB tanked the rest of the roster and the front office let him do it. Just a dysfunctional organization.

Does he get the DeShaun rate from Jake at State Farm?

Really not his fault tho
Of course. Nobody is coddled more by the media than Deshaun Watson. Nothing has ever been his fault.
I like Watson too but shite, he’s not the first QB to be saddled with shitty talent around him.

His team was bad. Not necessarily his fault but he’s not going to get much buzz.

He's not even in top5 for mvp
And Allen from Buffalo should be on top or near top of every MVP list.

Most valuable player on a 4 win team won’t get you very far

He is
He will most likely finish 2nd or 3rd
He will surely be a finalist

Guess for AFC Offensive Player of the Year you could debate between Watson, Mahommes, Henry and Allen. Personally I'd go with Allen, 45 Total TDs passing and running. 4500 yards passing with another 400 rushing.
But your overall NFL Offensive Player of the Year is Aaron Rodgers. I know so many on this board hate him, but it has to be him.
4299 passing yards, NFL leader in TD passes (48), with another 3 rushing for 51 total, Completion Percentage (70.7) and Passer Rating (121.5, second all time only to his own rating in 2011).

I think Henry win the AP OPOY
ETA: it’s just AP OPOY

2,000 rushing yards was always a great feat in the NFL, but now in this era where the rules make the passing game so much easier, it is even more special.
But I also find it tough to ignore Josh Allen's 45 total TDs. I do think that award should be between those two guys.

He had talent around him. BOB sold it for pennies on the dollar due to a combination of being a cheap fricker and not being able to manage personalities.

I can't remember the last NFL MVP that didn't come from a team that wasn't a playoff team with a 1st round bye. It may have been Adrian Peterson in 2012 with Minnesota.
It seems like award culture this day and age is all tied to team success. A player like Tim Tebow winning the Heisman with an 8-4 team will likely never happen again.

Garbage stats?
Texans were down 31-7 against the Chiefs before 2 late game TD scores.
Down 31-16 to the Vikings before a late 4th QTr TD.
Down 21-0 to the Packers before he gets TDS and down 35-13 before a meaningless TD with 1:30 left in the game.
That’s at least four meaningless scores when losing.
Will say they lost six games by seven or fewer.
