UT boosters were done with Herman when he fricked up the eyes of Texas drama and the players leaving the field agains OU. He was done after that no matter what.

Sark’s immediate first call before he even calls other coaches should be to Quinn Ewers (the #1 QB in America from Texas. He will be Sarks ladder out of the hole Texas is in, IMO.

It shouldn’t be too difficult considering his family is all about UT. I guess they just disliked Herman that much.

Second call...

First call should be to the Brockermeyers household in Fort Worth. I doubt he can flip them from Bama (think they are early enrollees but conceivably they could portal back but I highly doubt it). Blake (their dad) was an AA tackle at UT when I was there. Herman was fired for losing them just as much as anything else (well, that and shitty losses).

He’s not going to do that to Saban this late in the game after Saban resurrected him.

yeah, that's a good point. It would be 99.99% futile anyway based on everything that's been said of that situation. So Ewars it is...

Just don’t get the Sark as a HC hype.

Texas just fired a coach for winning 64% of his games for a coach with a career winning percentage of 57%

Are Texas fans excited with this hire?

Well he really turned around a previously 0-11 Washington so his record reflects that. USC stint was going in right direction until the booze got bad, which apparently had been an issue even at UW.

Now he’s sober and went to Sabans school of The Process. Ceiling is really high.

Floor is disastrous though.

I think the OU thing got overblown. It was a bad look from that one image capture....but that's not where Herman fricked that issue up.

Reportedly, the AD told every UT coach that the players did not to be forced to sing the Eyes after games/matches/whatever, but did need to stay on the playing surface for it. Herman supposedly told the football players that he didn't care if they stayed on the field after the game or not....THEN tried to claim that there were not "clear instructions" from the AD. of course, 3-4 other coaches (volleyball, basketball) were interviewed right after that saying that the instructions were clear.

Bottom line, he didn't win enough games. He needed to win the Big12 this year when OU clearly had one of its worst teams in years and instead was out of it by the 3rd conference game.

I'd give Sark a lot of leeway for UDub. They were a complete dumpster fire after Willingham. Clearly his drinking caused issues at USC. He has a good, high ceiling but a floor that looks like a mine shaft to hell. I hope for his personal sake that he gets close to the ceiling.

USC fired the head coaches at Ole Miss, LSU, and Texas for Clay Helton. What a time to be alive.

It's hard for many my age to accept, but USC just isn't an upper tier program anymore.

A school like USC is just the right head coach hire away from being an upper tier program and, frankly a top 1-2 program.

Bama, Texas, LSU, USC, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma, ND

they've all wandered the wilderness for some time periods due to not having the right head coach. Some more than others. Ohio State has had probably the least amount of time in that wilderness. I'd say Michigan (and I'd put Tennessee and Nebraska in there too) has the hardest time escaping the wilderness these days due to not being located within the best recruiting areas (or, in the case of Tenn, being in the right away but surrounded by several other big programs). ND as well along with the academics.

Maybe, but it’s been proven time after time all
It takes is the right coach for them to be a dynasty.

Neither is Texas but the right hires could change that.

LOL -- the money they've spent on Mack's buyout, Strong and Herman's buyout(s), and the ~5.5mil/yr they've shelled out in base salaries, in 7 years they're up to about $72mil on HEAD COACH spend alone. That doesn't even include assistants and/or Sark's buyout from Alabama.

THat's Dabo money.
