Is it just an emphasis the program places on the position? Is it coaching? Is it (Wisconsin) genetics? Is it 1990's Nebraska "strength and conditioning?"

Year in and year out, Wisconsin produces some of the best offensive linemen in the country/draft. The signed five guys this year, and I guarantee you some of these guys will ultimately be high round draft picks.

4* Tackle - 6'8, 320 lbs
4* Tackle - 6'7, 273 lbs
3* Guard - 6'5, 305 lbs
3* Tackle - 6'6, 270 lbs
3* Guard - 6'4, 270 lbs

How do they consistently do it?

I feel like we have this thread every few months. They have a system and they have coaches who know how to run it. They know who to look for, how to coach them for it, and they rarely throw unprepared kids into the fire because of it

Yes to all of the above.

We do? I just thought of it due to LSU's struggles to get them.

I've also seen it suggested that they are usually able to get some walkons that may have a spot somewhere else but they choose to stay in Wisconsin

LSU needs to start going after these guys heavy but I’m not sure they’d have the same success here.

If it were the Les days, they might do good because we mainly ran the ball.

With a modern offense (well... even an Ensminger offense), they would be good at run blocking but questionable at pass blocking.

In addition to what other people have said about the coaches and system, their linemen also typically major in things like engineering and finance...as opposed to interdisciplinary studies or sports administration. Those kids are intelligent, and that’s huge on the offensive line. No pun intended.

It is crazy to me how the South has not adopted wrestling. Without a doubt, it is the best technique builder for linemen and defensive players outside of football, and perhaps even better. Wrestling teaches body control and learning the points of the body that are weak and can be attacked. So much of football training speaks only to aggression and pure power. Wrestling also helps train you to someone of equal/bigger size, not getting lazy being just bigger your whole life.

I agree.

Would do them well to learn Jiu Jitsu as kids as well. Teach about leverage and using an "attacking" enemy's energy against them much like OLs do with attacking rushers.

Wrestling's great because it teaches you to have a good balanced base, bend at the knees, move laterally, and hand fight, which is exactly what OL do.
