We did brunch at High West Distillery and I it was outstanding and the area is beautiful. We took the tour as well which was actually a great tour.. In Park City we went to therir place called The Saloon and the food was elevated bar food and I would easily go back. I highly recommend the popcorn appetizer if you like popcorn. We spent the rest of our time in SLC and hit local taverns. There is the famous Mexican Restaurant Red Iguana, go early or be prepared to wait because it fills up quickly.

High west is great but tough to get a table at. Our friends would leave the moutnain before the apres rush to get a spot.

No Name Saloon is great, especially if you can get a table upstairs, outside, under the heaters. I think Riverhorse is supposed to be good.

I forget what brewery it is that's right on the main strip, but their beer is terrible. If it's not Epic, it's probably not worth your time.

Salt Lake City:

1. Log Haven. This is a fine dining restaurant. The venue is incredible and the food is top notch. I can't recommend it enough and is our favorite place to eat in Salt Lake and it's not even close.

2. Provisions. Fine dining that's a little hipster. Menu is always changing and fairly diverse.

3. Penny Anne's Cafe. Breakfast place. My wife is a pancake connoisseur and claims this is her all time favorite pancake place. You'd better be hungry if you go here.

4. Ruth's Diner. The venue is cool and the food is fantastic. This is a breakfast place.

5. The Pie Underground. The iconic college pizza place. Please make sure you go to the Underground location as it is right by campus and gives the full experience. The pizza is OK, but the atmosphere is why you are there.

6. Moochie's. Another college kid place. Their claim to fame is the Philly Cheesesteak and fries with the fry sauce.

7. R&R BBQ. I know. I know. I know...... After a while, we wanted a taste of home. Not sure where these folks are from, but they make some damn good BBQ. Fisher Brewing is also right around the corner from here so it makes it a good stop.

8. The Red Iguana. A must eat place for Salt Lake. Plan on waiting in line. There is ALWAYS a line no matter what time of day or night you get there. Mexican place who's claim to fame is their mole sauces.

Salt Lake has plenty of breweries. Our favorite is Fisher Brewing by far. Love that place and always stop there when we go back.

Park City had limited options as it was out of season when we were there. Highwest is a good stop along with the brewery there, Wasatch Brew Pub. The burger was good at the brew pub.

Salt Lake is one of my favorite cities. I'd love to retire out there.

Is Utah pretty wide open as far as Covid goes?

All the CO resorts seem ate up with covid fear. Breck and Aspen restaurants takeout only

Californians are over running Colorado. When we toured UC Boulder, more than half the families were from out of state and 70% of those were from California.

Utah never officially shutdown. With that said, I haven’t been out there this year. Salt Lake itself is pretty liberal and it wouldn’t surprise me if the city was shutdown.

From my travel board thread from two summers ago:
Food/Drinks

SLC - I was impressed over a couple of days in Salt Lake. TigerDroppings did me right.

Lucky 13 - good burger and cool space. Must do if you are going to a Bees game.

LINK

Copper Onion - Outstanding brunch. Food was very good and drinks were a step above. Diverse crowd and felt perfectly comfortable here having a couple of cocktails before touring the LDS grounds.

Squatters - No complaints. I think it’s the biggest SLC brewery. Seemed that way based on availability throughout the state.

Gracie’s - Cool, local place. Live music on a Sunday. Big patio. Good service.

White Horse - Outstanding whiskey and cocktail bar. 5 or 6 shelf bar. Great, truly great service. Fine cocktails. Solid oyster selection. No complaints. Would be there often if this was in Birmingham.

Eva - Small plates. Very pleased with food. Service was fine but could have been better. Cool spot and glad it was recommended. Would go back tomorrow but....

We also ate at a local chain, Waffle Love. Unique, crepish like waffles. Perfect fuel for an evening of curling.

Park City/Deere Valley

Disclaimer is that we ended up eating at the Stein or doing causal drinks so missed out on a lot of the recommended Main Street, higher end places.

501 on Main - Unimpressed. Went here “late” on a Monday so take that for what it’s worth. Fine but could have done better (probably and despite limited options at that point). One of few places not recommended by TD or friends.

Boneyard Saloon - Not on Main Street but cool spot to watch game 7 of Stanley Cup. Packed, solid beer selection, and I was happy with the wings.

Bridge cafe - cool Brazilian spot with breakfast menu all day but half our group had other stuff. Worth a visit.

Chimayo was the best meal I had. Elk was fantastic. Spare ribs were over the top. Very good service.

Food at the Stein Erickson was good. Not great except for the brunch buffet which was sublime. I’m not a huge brunch guy but this was worth every penny. I can’t think of a reasons you’d go to Park City and not have brunch there. Perhaps cost though I thought it was fairly reasonable given the spread. I’m a protein/get your money’s worth guy but it is all good.

I also tried a number of beers. I’m not a big hoppy beer guy so most of my selections below would have been blondes, ambers, a couple of pale ales, and maybe something dark here or yhere. Local Utah breweries I tried:

2 row
Squatters
Uinta
Roha
Moab
Park City
Bohemian Brewery
Kittos.

High West Distillery - This was an incredible experience. Whiskey was worth the trip. Didn’t care for the Scotch blend and the bourbon was probably my favorite. Ryes were outstanding. Did the tour and heard a bluegrass band as the sun set. One of my favorite distillery visits. Very well done.

I’ll have to check out Luck 13. The Bees haven’t been playing anytime I’ve been out there. My wife and son got to check a game out and the pics from the stadium were insane.

Turkey Chili at Deer Valley's Snow Park Lodge, inside the Snow Park Restaurant. Southwest style, great after a morning of skiing.

It was within an easy lime scooter ride from the hotel on a Sunday afternoon when my travel companion was taking a nap. Didn’t eat that I recall. Interesting crowd.

Btw, I really liked Salt Lake. It was not what I was expecting.

To the OP, I’d go curling if they’re still offering it at the Olympic rink. Especially if you’ve never done it.

Riverhorse is solid, Grappa is one of my favorites though. Adolphs is interesting if your into sort of thing, it’s a weird mix of Swiss/fondu
