Charbroil TRU infrared grill
I once had a 5 burner Charbroil and I found it to be a decent grill for almost the first 2 years, then it was all about buying replacement parts in burners, those flavor plates that go over the burners, etc. just about every year afterwards.
I finally got tired of buying parts and the fact it really was a PITA to do a thorough cleaning of the grill that I gave it away and bought me a Weber Genesis 3 burner and couldn't be happier.

I am also checking into the Masterbuilt gravity charcoal grill/smokers. I currently have a Traeger and a GMG pellet smokers plus a Blackstone griddle.

Struggle as in with quantity (something like hamburgers) or large cuts? Can you do ribs easily on it?
A little bit of both. I use the slow n sear, and with that in it the amount of space you have available for indirect is just too penalized. I struggle to get more than about 20 wings on it unless I just start cramming them on. Briskets larger than 12 pounds or so are a pretty tight squeeze over the indirect side. Its definately doable, but it's really crammed in there.
For ribs, your fine with 1 rack, 2 will start to get cramped. I would use a rib rack for more than one to be honest.

Have you tried a vortex insert? Should give you a lot more room for wings. But I agree - more than 1 rack of ribs, I use a rib rack. Brisket you're limited between 12-15lbs, depending on how to trim it and how it's shaped, as well as using the snake method. 99% of the time I'm not cooking for a large group of people so it's fine.

The 26" has 40% more space than the 22".
I agree that the 22" is a little tight if you are cooking for more than 4-6. I have posted a fair amount of pics, and with the SnS in, I can cook about 15-20 chicken thighs (bone in).
If you have a 26" kettle and put an XL Slow n Sear in it, you should have about the same amount of indirect grilling space as an entire 22" kettle.

My latest purchase, love the added size and versitility of the 26".
Also, have a Weber Performer, Weber 18” Smokey Mountain, and Blue Rhino flattop griddle.

I am in the middle of an outside kitchen build and plan to purchase a dynaglow wide body vertical propane smoker along with a 36” commercial flat top griddle.will have the egg nested in the counter as well. Should cover all the cooking bases

Had a Masterbuilt propane smoker and now have a Oklahoma Joe Drum Smoker. I find the drum smoker to be less maintenance and easier to use. Vertical propane smoker does have a ton of capacity.

For years, I thought of the kettle as that cheap grill that our father owned. I remember him spraying the coals with lighter fluid, and the food having that lighter fluid taste.
I have come to appreciate the greatness that is the humble Weber kettle - if you take the time to use it properly...

When I first got married and bought a house, a cheap 22" Weber is what I learned to grill on. For such a simple design that is well made and with the accessories available, you can have a grill that will last for years that you can experiment with many different grilling / barbeque techniques. If you take the time to learn how to use it properly. As you can tell from my grill list, I became a Weber fan for life.

Ditto. I have a Spirit II gasser as an overflow grill. I've owned Weber Genesis and Summit grills. I will probably get a Summit Charcoal at some point - probably when I retire. I'm not sure that the Summit will grill any better than the kettle. It will be more efficient, for sure, but I don't know if it will cook any better. I'm having so much fun with the kettle, that I'm not even sure I'll ever upgrade.

Right now the big thing holding me back from starting down the Weber kettle path is the convenience of the gravity series and being able to quickly light up the grill for simple mid week hot dogs and hamburgers. My Oklahoma joe is half gas half charcoal so I've got the best of both worlds. It is also nice because the side burner is the perfect size to set the chimney starter on for a quick light.
With the kettle I'd lose that. Now I'm sure in reality it wouldn't be that big of a difference between lighting up the gravity series and the kettle (maybe a couple of minutes) but I sure am building it up in my head to be.

The Performer has gas assist, too. TBH, I hardly use it.

I agree with you on this, and have this to add. I have gone full circle, starting with a kettle some 30 years ago, and added a WSM about 12 years ago. Always had a gasser for the reason you listed. Ventured into offset smokers and cookers, vertical offset, kamado cooking that started with a small one and now own a primo Oval XL for three years which resulted in the sale of the WSM, small kamado and the two offsets. Just about 2 months ago, dusted off the performer that was in storage and have really enjoyed cooking on it due to the simplicity and convenience. There really is nothing quite close to it. I too have the slow and sear and fan attachments. Needless to say, I will be placing my Primo Oval XL up for sale, along with all the attachments and two tables, priced to go. It's an outstanding cooker, but it's just the wife and I now, not much tailgating or big football parties, so no need for the grill real estate anymore.
ETA: to th OP, go Weber kettle, 22" or 26" and you tube/ google for more tips and techniques!

I'm jealous of the 26". Like I said, I wish they made a 26" Performer.
ETA:
Here is the side by side of the 26 and 22 versions. It's significant.
