Private sector paid him and his wife $65 million for a book deal. Private sector also pays up to $600k for him to speak. I don’t see that as much of a failure.

Private sector paid him and his wife $65 million for access to the government so that said government would craft laws and regulations to protect that "private" sector from competition.

We do not have a free market economy. We have an economy built on paying government officials to strangle any competition once you're big enough to afford them.

See: Amazon, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, etc.

It just always baffles me how they demonize a business owner for being wealthy yet they'll worship LeBron and say his wealth isn't a problem.

On one hand I feel sorry for the guy, he has never really had a "home". This building isn't owned by him, its not really his. Billy Graham had a real "Home" .

Was he? What were some of the big deals or cases he was involved in as an attorney?

He wasn’t a successful lawyer. He worked for some civil rights firm and taught classes at some university.

He’s a government leach

And it is equally bullshite.

I'm not just bitching about Presidents getting rich. I have an issue with EVERY SINGLE US POLITICIAN choosing to go to work for a bankrupt country and coming out years later as multimillionaires. All the while we, the citizens, are footing that bill. Doesn't matter, though, we are all content to jump on the fake and fight each other over frivolous bullshite they feed us to keep us distracted from the real issues.

Serving your country in a governmental capacity is a civic duty, not a career choice. That is how it was designed to be. The career politician and identity politics are the two worst things to ever happen to our country.

Difference is, republicans were already wealthy before entering office.

Democrats usually aren’t

Biggest difference is the R's don't say rich people are bad while raking in millions.

However, R's love getting those lobby jobs after complaining how there's too much money and power in DC

2000 hours? That's more like 1 year I believe.

I don't completely disagree here, but the idea that any president of the US should not become wealthy from all of the book deals and speaking arrangements is laughable. Republican's do the exact same.

The issue comes when any president or high level politician knows that they will be able to generate millions of dollars on speaking deal arrangements and sitting on board positions - it creates a huge conflict of interest. Is a person going to fight for the best interest of those governed or be more concerned about not fricking up their cushy retirement plan - even if it isn't overt in their mind, it still impacts how a person will govern.

And it is just one part in a widespread system of rot in which we have a general public who can't agree on if elections are fair, has no confidence in the elected congress, etc. Setting monetary limits on post office speaking fees, taking seats on the boards of major companies, etc. would be a really good start to get shite turned around - it would need to be well thought out and appropriately crafted, but it is certainly doable if the politicians would be nice enough to change
