re: I think Finley looks pretty good for a true freshman.

Baw has the best arm I’ve seen since Jamarcus
His biggest weakness is that he tries to force the ball into tight coverage, sometimes where multiple defenders have a chance at an int. Of course the best QB's have the most confidence.

Like what?
I think There where some times she showed some really good poise and pocket presence
He isn’t perfect but his potential is super high. And he shows flashes of almost everything you could ask for. He is slow though.

Finley’s delivery is by no means short or quick. Besides being slower than the offspring of a turtle and a sloth fricking his worst problem is he takes too long to make a decision and his throwing motion is long and slow. I’m not knocking the kid either because he’s very talented but he needs to work on his mechanics as well as pocket awareness. He can’t do much about being slow that’s just who he is but he can work on the rest.

Dude throws fast balls, only. His pocket awareness is getting better. I thought he had a few balls dropped that should have been caught. Overall great game freshman or otherwise. Qb no longer looks like our problem.

His footwork is just bad.
Has a narrow stance that affects balance.
There are times when you don’t have to step into a throw, but he almost never does. This affects accuracy.
Has dead feet all together. Watch the great QBs & their feet never stop moving. Drew Brees, Mahomes, Brady, Russell Wilson are a few that are great at it. This allows them to connect on a throw to anywhere on the field, from any plane, and from any position with accuracy.
His arm is great, and that likely has been a crutch for a long time. I hope it’s something they can break but it’s a hard habit to do so.

Yep needs some touch on his throws and zing it when he needs to.

I get Your concern, but he is young and your right that arm bails him out a lot.
There were times where he moved around in the pocket that makes me think he will get better at that.

Brennans starter next year and it wont be a competition

You guys will bash him next week like you did the last game. You only praise him when he's winning
Posted on 11/21/20 at 6:02 pm to Lester Earl
Yeah and if you go back and look at them as true freshmen they all had bad habits
Posted on 11/21/20 at 6:23 pm to DmitriKaramazov
If McMath doesn't pull a hammy on the deep throw it looked like Finley was going to be on the money with that throw. He also had about 50 yards passing called back on 2 picky holding calls.
He did great for a true FR and never got rattled. I didn't think he was developed very well at Ponchatoula and expected him to need more time to see the field, but he's definitely ahead of where I thought he'd be. Well done TJ.

Bad Footwork is more than a habit. It’s notoriously hard to correct.

If he’s the best man next year, so be it. But he should have to earn it. And Nuss should get a real look, as well.

He’s no Bryce Young but he’s got a nice future if he keeps developing
Posted on 11/21/20 at 8:09 pm to DmitriKaramazov
I think he is more than capable being an SEC QB. He makes some mistakes, but he's a true freshman. If he's our go to QB for the future, I think he'll do very well.
Posted on 11/21/20 at 8:51 pm to DmitriKaramazov
He’s had to learn on the job faster than anyone - especially him - ever expected. He deserves our props and respect. Of course he has things to work on, that’s not the point.

Needs to lose the baby fat and get stronger and quicker. Moffit ncould transform him into a tank if he puts in the work. He’s too slow on his feet at this time.
