Baw has the best arm I’ve seen since Jamarcus

His arm is not nearly as good as Brennan’s. It’s probably a bit stronger, but it’s nowhere near as accurate.

I think his peak is prob pretty close to Felipe franks

Which isn’t terrible, but he will have to fight off some of these younger guys & max

Remember on that last drive he had to throw 2 touchdown passing. The one to Davis was prefect. I love the kid, but Miles would have scored 40 easy on that team.
Also had 2 nice long balls called back on questionable holding. The Pigs did their share of holding and got away with most.

When people are talking about having a great arm, they’re talking about velocity. You know this.

That’s a tier below his peak, at a minimum.

That’s his issue tho.

Splash throws vs consistency

You need the latter to sustain drives & consistently score tuddies

Most of the time he had all day to throw the ball and still missed some easy throws. Needs to work on his touch and take something off the ball when necessary. Decision making also needs work. But he is pretty good for a freshman. Doesn't mean he steps into the job next year if Brennan is healthy.

I think Felippe Frank’s peak is doing Finley a disservice. He’s shown enough to say that his potential is higher than that. Granted potential is not certain but it appears higher than that

Maybe I hope I’m wrong

His tools are alluring but I don’t see the little things that make QBs special

Shaping up like we are going to have a real QB battle next year. Been a while since we've had a good one at LSU.

He's 18 or 19 and thrown to the wolves, Les. He's shown good poise in light of that, and has had a few glimmers of playmaking ability.

He made some nice throws and showed decent pocket awareness (for example, on the last TD).

I agree. Finley still needs to work on accuracy, touch and pocket awareness. However, the way he bounced back in a road game after a terrible game vs Auburn says a lot. That’s takes poise and mental toughness. Coming back after the blown incomplete call on what should have been a TD and getting one anyway did too. He made several critical 3rd down throws, as well. Finley isn’t perfect, but he’s got it where it counts. He has the mentality to make plays with the game on the line and he’s got the arm. If he can learn the rest, he can be really, really good.

I was critical of the calls on tRant to hand Finley the keys based solely on the USC game, but with Brennan out, he’s the best option we have and I like what I see. Brennan may win the job back this coming off-season, but the coaches need to let them battle it out and give Finley the opportunity to win the job. He’s earning that opportunity on the field this year.

Miles has developed better than anyone recruited by LSU since Flynn. Let’s see if that continues, but his improvement and Finley being well prepared for 2 of his 3 starts looks better than what we’ve seen in a long time.

He’s not bad. His weaknesses are just the things hardest to correct

Franks was a 10-3 sec QB. It’s not really an insult, but I just think he’ll likely be limited by these things

He looks fine for a freshman. But I’ll continue to ask what are we doing with Max if we don’t give him opportunities here and there?

He should get some series going forward, but him not playing today may have been because he missed a bunch of practice time with COVID. I bet we see him on some running QB series vs A&M next week.
