He is already in much better shape than he was at this time last year. He’s just never going to be light on his feet, but hopefully he can improve his footwork in spite of it.

Does Max get a shot before he transfers?

He needs to trim down to about 225 which should improve his mobility some, but he’s never going to be a burner. He’s extremely raw in his mechanics and his body. He looks a lot like Jamarcus in 2004 when he was a redshirt freshman. Finley seems most comfortable with the deep and intermediate throws off of play action. He has no touch on short throws yet. They’re going to have to open the playbook for him over the next few games if we want any chance of winning again this year.

Do you know what 225 looks like on 6’6”?

Ryan Mallet was 253, & he was pretty thin

Yeah. It looks like improved mobility and less baby fat than he currently possesses.

He’s carrying his weight very well right now

He’d get bent in half at 225. That isn’t a sustainable weight for someone that size

I disagree. He still has a ways to go to get his body SEC ready in terms of losing baby fat. I would have no problem with him staying 240 if it was a solid 240. Lol at the bent in half comment. There’s a bunch of guys playing QB in this league less than 225.

How many of those are 6’6?

He still has some work to do but I don’t think you realize how far he has come already. He’s a big guy and isn’t ever going to be nimble.

I realize he’s lost a lot of weight already and props to him. Just for comparison sake, here’s some guys who have played at the highest level with a similar frame I’m suggesting:

Eli Manning 6’5 218
Peyton Manning 6’5 230
Philip Rivers 6’5 228
Daniel Jones 6’6 220

Jones is the only one of those that wasn't always slow as shite so why do you think getting down to 220 will make him nimble?

I don’t believe he will ever be a threat with his legs, but he may be able to pick up a first down here and there at a lighter weight. He can’t even do that right now.
