The Knicks declined team option on Bobby Portis ($15.7M) and waived Taj Gibson ($10.29M) and Elfrid Payton ($8M), sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. Frees up salary space for New York.
Per Shams. Elfrid would've been good coming back to run second team just a couple days ago.

He still may be a good option to look at if they end up moving Bledsoe in a trade.

Definitely.
I think we will see alot of sign and trades happen, very little cap space available

OTOH, not a ton of players on the market because almost half the league got new deals this past offseason.
AD, BI, and a few others are technically free agents but are expected to get the Max from their current teams.

We just drafted two PGs in the first round last two years. Even if we traded Bledsoe and Hill, we still have a lot of PGs.

At least we aren’t the T-Wolves.
Their history of drafting point guards under David Kahn was laughably bad.

So would you be comfortable with either NAW or Kira starting? I have high hopes for both but we need a stop gap.

I’m comfortable with any combination of Ball, JJ, Hill, or Bledsoe starting. I’m also comfortable with either one of those guys plus NAW and/or Kira coming off the bench. We’re good at guard.

Sons, is there a chart that shows our current cap situation?

The trade still isn't official so none of the salary cap sites I typically go to have the roster updated.

Ilyasova would make a good low key signing for depth if he comes cheap.
Posted on 11/19/20 at 2:05 pm to supe12sta12z
I would definitely be on board with Ilyasova as a depth signing.
