Oh I thought it was because flu cases are counted as covid cases now. Silly me.

Ughhhhh. There are currently 5k hospitalized in the state I work in. Wtf are you talking about?
Thought you were in LA where there are 885. So if 5K you must be in IL or TX. Those are the only two states with >5K hospitalized. Neither are in that bad of shape. I have shared the Texas current data multiple times.
On a per million basis neither TX nor IL are doing that bad.
No where is doing bad enough to justify a complete shut down which has shown to be worthless.

OP, that is 100% inaccurate at the hospital I’m at. Capacity = ability to care for patients. The limiting factor is usually the amount of available staff.

Baw, OP and the nurse are likely paid shills. The nurse spouting invalid numbers and saying masks have stopped the flu and other such falsehoods. It’s best to ignore them. Let’s see if they return to defend their positions.

There is nothing to defend. That’s the definition of capacity. The ability to do a certain volume of things. In this case, take care of additional patients. That’s it.

I’m particularly interested in the nurse’s unfounded statement that masks have prevented spread of the flu. Let’s see what happens...

But I thought people weren’t abiding by the mask recommendations, leading to a spike in CV and leading into Biden’s call for a national mask mandate.
So I guess they are saying that just enough people are wearing the mask such that it completely obliterates the flu, but not enough people are wearing the masks to stop CV?

Covid has been such a nothingburger capacity wise it almost put hospitals out of business during April and May when they wouldn’t let anyone go to the hospital for anything other than Covid.

Doesn't fit the Democratic Party narrative. think lies.

That is not true, have you worked in a hospital, if you have not, you need not comment
Posted on 11/18/20 at 7:06 pm to lsupride87
AND don’t we still have the hospital at the convention center???

My wife wore one for 1 day at her clinic, then gladly threw it away and took her chances
I was in the icu, had to deal with bipap and removing masks to get meds, etc.
Not taking my chances

There’s a typical response. Us peasants aren’t smart enough to understand the highly complex medical field. Our personal experience and common sense pales in comparison to their vast, ultimate authority

jenn how is it where you are?? Hadn’t come across your posts in a while.

We are doing great. I have moved back to the Bay Area and our numbers are pretty good. We were put back on the most restrictive tier because things are trending in the wrong direction but the hospitals seem to be well equipped this time. In 2 weeks we may look like shite but for now it’s just outdoor dining and wearing a mask as soon as you walk out your door which isn’t so bad.
Posted on 11/18/20 at 10:18 pm to LSURN98
Maybe you should film more nurse group dance pillow butt twerking videos. That oughtta’ help the patients. Seemed to be popular during the “flatten the curve” era.

Masks are killing flu but not COVID... weird. And if COVID is raging because people are not wearing masks, then the flu should be raging as well.
Posted on 11/18/20 at 10:30 pm to Vote4MikeAck504
Thats not necessarily true. Covid was well seeded and the Flu season hasn't really hit with a vengeance yet. In my memory we are always slow around Christmas and then mid January you can't get a bed in ICU...but that is purely anecdotal.
Not commenting on whether or not you should wear a mask, just stating that the two aren't exactly the same.
