A Serbian Film

Definitely fricked up, but this:
quote:

Aside from the obviously extreme subject matter, it was a very well-made film. Cinematography, editing, sound, and acting were all top-notch.

..is definitely true. That being said, I imagine most can't get past the subject matter, which is understandable.

Oh, Cannibal Holocaust is another one to add to this thread.

Reminds me of William Sadler's RUSH 1991 Monroe character, who kept beer, and everything else, at body temperature because the high from the drugs he sold lasted longer.

I'd love a horror movie about that guy and the heroin dealer, Willie Red killing drug addicts after they bought.

No votes for "Mother"?

I agree it doesn't stack up to A Serbian Film or Killing of a Sacred Deer, but I remember being fairly disturbed by it.

So I watched The Killing of a Sacred Deer last night.

It is definitely pretty "messed up," so it belongs in this thread. But man, it was one of the worst-acted movies I have ever seen in my life. Maybe it was intentional by the director and actors, but holy shite it felt like literally every single line of the movie was just being read from the script off camera. No emotion, no flex in tone, nothing. And Kidman and Farrell are both good actors.

I also didn't like how we got no explanation whatsoever about what was going on (or why); you are just supposed to accept the premise with no questions I guess.

Weirdly enough, I didn't hate it. I actually liked it well enough. It just wasn't overly good, if that makes any sense.

I'm currently in the middle of watching Sacred Deer and just assume the acting is supposed to be that way?

Older Body Horror film but the ending...you can't unsee it.

It's super weird.

Rampage is literally a movie about a deranged guy who just walks down his towns main boulevard, killing just under 100 totally innocent people who just so happen to be out and about

Feel like this came out during a peak time in public shooters going around too. It’s amazing to watch it now and try to figure out how it got green lit. The dude even gets away with it for fricks sake

That movie got a damn sequel too!

Two, I believe.

It has to be. HAS to be.

It's so bad that it is distracting. And even if it was intentional to try to develop a certain "tone" for the movie, it falls flat for me and actually disengaged me in several scenes.

Where do we watch some of these? I dont want to see the whole thing, but seeing some scenes for context would be cool

I think Hulu houses a couple of the ones mentioned in here like The House that Jack Built.

I think Hulu still has Baskin

I don't think anything carries the french extremity movies, even as rentals. I think you have to get DVDs for most of them.

Salo has a fricking Criterion Bluray

Cannibal Holocaust is on Shudder with Cannibal Ferox

Salo

I read the synopsis of that years ago after a thread like this on here. I am down with fricked up movies a good bit sometimes, but I'm not sure I could sit through that one. Same with Eraserhead...I've seen clips of that on youtube and it just seems so overly bad and random and messed up that I don't think I could sit through it out of sheer boredom and WTFness.
