"He lost credibility with a very large amount of people with his remarks on “systemic racism”.

Equality and fairness is more important than Scott Woodward caring about how a certain group of people perceive his credibility for speaking the truth! The letter in its totality is all truth. If anything, he gained credibility!

The only racism imbedded in law, and therefore systemic, is affirmative action and racial set-asides.

Adults wouldn't post such idiotic statements. But then again this is Louisiana.

Absolutely false, but keep them panties wadded.

If you are not a racist then it shouldn't bother you. It's like all Muslims are not terrorist, yet we had a Muslim ban, all Black people are not "thugs". So if you don't fit the narrative, why does it bother you?

are you really this stupid? it bothers you because those labels get used for innocent people in the same category. what is racism fundamentally? the same sh!t you are describing. people attribute the negative qualitative of a few within a group to the entire larger group. whether its the words you use or "racist" for whites.

Racism exists, absolutely.

Systemic racism does not. You are welcome to prove me wrong.

This 100% with a few exceptions (affirmative action, government contracts, corporation hiring/promotion quotas) anywhere where certain races explicitly get special treatment. I have never seen one of these special treatments benefitting white people but maybe it exists.

What is really funny is every time something happens between people of different races the left goes straight to racism. Maybe the race of each person had nothing to do with the actions. It is also important to note that all races can be racist and all races can be victims of racism.

Another cave-in by an athletic leader.....if he would not have mentioned it, there would have campus revolts! This is the life we live in today!

Sentencing data alone proves it does.

There is no problem with Woodward's last sentence:
quote:

Black Americans should never be treated unjustly by law enforcement, and we will continue to do our part to help change systemic racism in America.

Nothing wrong with this clause:
quote:

Black Americans should never be treated unjustly by law enforcement

Nothing wrong with this clause:
quote:

we will continue to do our part to help change systemic racism in America.

People freaking out about that sentence need to really think about why it bothers them so much.

I'm not freaking out, and the OP did not appear to be, either. It bothers me because it is false. The only systemic racism in this country is the discrimination against white and Asian people codified in our laws.

Well, that's stupid. It neither means nor implies that. It means that racism is built into the laws (the system). A minority of policemen are racist and harass black people because they are racist. That is NOT systemic. If a majority of them did it there would be a case for labeling it systemic. If there were laws - as there were about water fountains, bus rides, etc - THAT would be systemic.

As I posted above, the laws discriminating against white people and Asians are examples of systemic racism.

Institutional racism is not systemic racism, but since you brought it up, a great example of institutional racism is the NBA's racism against white people, who are radically underrepresented in that league. If we use the same absolutes that these goofuses use these days, and posit that the fault cannot be in the underrepresented group, then only institutional racism is left as an explanation.
