Does LSU have the right personal now to play a 4-3 defense?

We really do not have a NT without Shelvin or Ika. This is fricked up.

Good thing the 4-3 uses two DTs. I think Guillory and Smith could play on the inside and Foreman and Ojulari on the outside. Obviously looking ahead.

They don’t have the personnel for a 3-4 either but it’s better suited for 4/3 at the moment

This is such bs. Logan, Evans, and Farell are all more 4-3 DTs than 3-4 DEs
We are lacking at MLB but Stevens could play there
Cox is a fit in 4-3 and so are our DBs.
You have to be multiple in today's game anyway.
When Aranda got here he played lots of 4-3 is first year to let his players adjust. He also played lots of 4 man fronts last year

Which is why Bo should’ve run a 3-4 for the first couple of years until the personnel were in place.
But he was too fricking stubborn and impatient, so now we get a shitshow on defense for however long it takes to get those players.

Those were Tite fronts. 3 dlinemen and an OLB....not the same thing as 4 man front.

You don’t get to claim that LSU not having the right personnel for 4-3 (because it is better suited for 3-4) is an excuse for Pelini to have a shitty 4-3 defense (which we have), then turn around and say he shouldn’t have transitioned more gradually from 3-4 to the 4-3.

We didn’t have a NT between 2000 and like 2018
While some 4-3’s use traditional NTs most don’t.
Now to answer your question: no. We need better DTs.

How often are teams even in base defense anymore?

Not sure we have the personnel to play a 3-4 at good to very good level, we are having problems with the LB's we have, imagine putting 4 of them out there at one time. We have more quality DL than LB's in my view.

Last year this time it didn’t look like we had the personnel to play whatever D we were playing last year it was after the Mississippi game the D gelled.
