It’s disingenuous to talk about how the coaches see everything in practice in regards to “TJ Finley vs Max Johnson”. And not admit that O likes Brennan for a reason. I have been one of the biggest advocates for Finley to start going forward on this board. But there is a reason O says that “Myles Brennan is our QB”. While I shutter at the idea of Finley transferring given the fact that Myles has 2 more years of eligibility after this one, I trust coach O and his decisions. Let’s go Tigers regardless of who is playing QB.

If Myles doesn’t get hurt, he would have gone after this season because of his gaudy numbers shaping up. He could still go after this season if he recovers.

I mean O also said the defense was better than at any point last season.

So you can continue to hang on his words but let's wait until we see action

He has to say Brennan is the qb. What else is he supposed to say?

He’s always liked Brennan. I remember and interview last year with Jordan Palmer taking about his congratulating phone call to O when he got the job here, Jordan became close to O through his brother Carson. He asked O about LSUs prospects of winning asking when would he get the QB necessary to take LSU to the next level. O responded we already have the guy and it’ll just be a couple of years until he’s ready. He was talking about Brennan, this was before Burrow was even a possibility.

I’m guessing there is some loyalty to a guy who sat and waited his turn. Most QB’s and even any player would have left in today’s world. We see it everyday. The funny thing is Brennan has done nothing wrong. He was one of the highest rated QB’s in college football. I guess it’s wrong to be loyal to a player who waited his turn. Now flip the script and tell me why a certain LB has not lost his job when he is completely overwhelmed on the field?

Les Miles made some boneheaded decisions on which QB should get the ball. Anyone with a set of eyes could see that.

O has not made those same bad decisions. Say what you want about Etling but he deserved that job in 2016 and 2017. And, well, the Burrow decision speaks for itself in 2018 and 2019. I'm very happy that Finley played well, but let's not forget how great of a season Brennan is having. Brennan was shaky in the first half of the opener. You can't really fault him for anything else, including the 3rd down and RZ struggles - those struggles stem directly from play calling (and execution). Finley got this staff and team at just the right time, when they decided to really dig in. Whether or not they continue that focus if/when Brennan gets his shot again remains to be seen.

Maybe it’s because the whole playbook opens up with Myles and that whole part where he had more yards and touchdowns in his first 3 starts than any QB in the history of our program.

As he should.

All these arm chair coaches who jized last weekend don’t realize what really happened.

We RAN the ball down their throats for the first time all year.

I think O wants to keep mentioning Brennan as the starter to keep Finley grounded.

One of the knocks on Finley has been his tendency to get cocky. O knows about it. O isn’t going to put too much praise on him at this point to temper that tendency.

The best will play. That was obv bec Max my all accounts was ahead Of TJ for a while. He even was the man up when Myles first looked like he may be out during mizzou game. But they had a competition and TJ won. With the running game and protection maybe Brennan does as well or better. Regardless he’s still set records. But one things for sure the leash will be short kf he struggles.

based on 1 game...the coaches (you know people who really know the game and what they want on the field) have had every practice to determine the starter
