I unloaded my big bike before winter in an effort to get something new over the winter. Hasn’t been easy.

Not sure which SC you’re looking at, but I understand pretty much every modern mountain bike out there these days if you need some guidance.

They’re nice bikes with great warranties and customer service, but they charge you every dime for them.

Good to know and appreciate it. Bikes in general where not available in stock over the summer. Honestly I don’t know much about them other than they cost way more than I was expecting so I’ll need a lot of guidance. I also need to be honest with myself about how I’ll actually get to use it vs grandiose dreams.

For sure. I unloaded some aggressive bikes because I’m really not riding Apex and other trails like that the way I was a couple years ago. Preferring more moderate and flowy things these days and don’t think I’ll go back to big mountain days. Also, man it’s sucks pedaling a 33-34 pound burly bike up these mountains.

I’m going for a 27-28 pound short-medium travel shredder (110-130 rear, 120-140 front). It may get overwhelmed during the 10% riding I do on big mountain stuff, but it will be perfect for the 90% of the riding I do these days.

Here is the Norco sigh I unloaded at the top of National in Phoenix. Thing could do absolutely anything, but it would abuse me on the climbs with its heft.



And here is the Diamondback Carbon Sync’r I unloaded as well. Big burly hardtail that went up kind of like shite but down like a tank. Still too much for my liking of fast flowy trails.

if the other poster (pjab) is committed to santa cruz, then the tallboy sounds like what he's looking for. most xc bikes nowadays have a slacker geometry, moving you back on the bike and meaning you can still rip the descents. the tallboy gives you 120mm of travel and is still light enough to climb.

where was this photo taken? assuming in CO but it does look a lot like the mt elden trail system in flagstaff, AZ.

Anyone have an update and/or prediction on Summit County's household restrictions? We are 3 couples that are supposed to be sharing a condo at the end of January. I saw it ends on 1/19 but can be extended. We can cancel up to 14 days in advance and get a full refund, but our reservation starts on 1/30.

On Christmas Eve in Breck, we couldn’t eat and mingle with our party at a restaurant. We were split in groups of 4 and couldn’t walk to each other’s tables. shitshow

CO has the super Covid now so don’t expect much to change. A report in the Denver Post said skiing is much safer than eating or drinking after skiing. I said it here before, CO will make every effort to keep the lifts running. Small business supporting the resorts don’t have the same clout.

Summit County is lifting some restrictions by Monday. Restaurants can go to 25% capacity and STR’s can accommodate two households.

lol wut? The independence chair always has the longest line. Supposedly they are building a second express lift on peak 7 to relieve that next summer though.
