You see those 3 cars stopped on the road putting on chains when they were like 3/4 of the way up already? Lines are gonna be long today but totally worth it, skies clearing as well!

I did not. We are just leaving my theory is that if I can handle Berthoud, Loveland, Vail & Rabbit Ears pass in my jeep I can handle that little Crystal road. I have my emergency kit just in case but I have good tires and 4X4.
But, others suck and will ruin it for the rest of us who know how to drive and have the right cars/tires.

Drive was fine, slow going a few miles before the turn up then about 25mph rest of the way. They're blasting with dynamite this morning as well so guessing northway will be closed for a bit

Appreciate the heads up. I ski in all black with a red jacket. Bright yellow backpack with bright yellow bindings.

Lots of people say this, but I just don’t get it.
Breck, Tellirude, Steamboat, Park City were all 1800s mining towns. The ski resort then grew next to the town. Not vice versa

Looking into a 3-4 night trip in March for my wife and I for our anniversary. Not looking to break the bank but don’t want to stay at the Motel 6 and drive to a resort to ski.
I’d rather stay at a resort and ski whenever we want. We are beginners at everything ski related.

My wife and I are trying to plan a trip for Christmas 2021...We will have about 9-12 people including small children with skiers ranging from 1st timer to intermediate. We would like a place with entertainment outside of skiing alone (dining, shopping, nightlife).
Question 1: Would Park City match our profile?
Question 2: Where would you recommend we look for lodging?

Agreed, I beat myself up pretty good today. I ate it twice trying to get out of the powder onto some straightaways. Did a ton of exploring and feel like I'm getting to know the mountain better. In any case I got pictures below so enjoy y'all .
Crystal got officially 14" of powder since the lifts closed and another 5" yesterday afternoon, giving a fun start to the day. Sun popped out early, but morning weather was snow showers.
Early morning view looking down the doors and a side view once in the powder
View from just after an early lunch at the top of the forest queen lift, run is the bottom of Double OO's left
Northway opened after avalanche blasting and everyone went over, lift line was probably 15 minutes. I think people saw the line and then left because not even the 2nd time down it was a 4 min wait. Boarder almost lost her snowboard into the abyss
Skied the rest of the afternoon over in this area. View looking down the trees off upper northway
Sun came out, view from the northway lift looking at the ridge on the left
Last run of the day, willie's run. Found a new stash of open trees here just trying to find my way down the mountain. I'll be back for more.

We had a good trip to Crested Butte this past week. It snowed about a foot while we were there.

I’ve been eyeing the pivots.
Do you find them hard to pop into if you need to get back in them in powder?

Nice pictures Cuse. That powder looks great and also exhausting.
LSU - is that you in a jump I can manage about 2-3 inches on my board. Went for 3 days this past week and my accomplishment was not falling once - even when two different kids almost took me out.

@hogwall - I like the pivots. They may be a little tougher to get back on in powder, but it's never been anywhere near impossible. I wouldn't trade them if I could.
@PrettyBird - yeah, I like to play in the park some. I've been working on getting air lately. Still a long way from where I'd like to be, but I can get up there from time to time.
I will say, if your goal is to not fall, you may not be pushing yourself as hard as you can be and hindering potential progress. My goal is usually more along the lines of no season-ending injuries

I like the parks but mostly just roll through them and do the occasional box like pictured. My fear of falling prevents me from taking any bigger risks. I'm damn good at holding a go pro and recording others while boarding though.

Ha, jinx to my last reply. I completely agree - but this past week was my first time out this season. It usually takes me a few days to get comfortable and not as focused on falling. I sat last season out with a baby, so this time I was a little more shaky. But three days of solid boarding, no falls and lots of terrain...hopefully next few trips I can relax and just GO.
