Used to be a diet/ weight loss sticky on here. I post a lot of boring “What’s for dinner” photos on here because of trying to lose a pound or two. Some have asked how’s it going. Started in March of ‘19 and have taken my time. Been hanging out at my current weight for the last three or four months. Ran across the first photo from about three year ago and it’s pretty embarrassing. A result of taking me out of the field and sticking me behind a desk. Took the second one yesterday morning. Mainly sharing to say that I’m 63 years old and that it’s never to late for a lifestyle change. :)

Great job!

After getting my DD214, I jumped from 155 to 200lbs. Keto diet for 6 months and was back to 155

Congratulations! You make it sound easy but it’s hard work to make a big change in your lifestyle and stick to it.

I see that you have a wedding band - did the SO take the journey with you? I dropped a good amount of weight when I was married and it seemed to make my ex angrier and angrier.

Wow! That is impressive on the before and after pictures. I caught Covid and that went okay other than I felt like I had the common flu. Fast forward 4 months later and now I’m having heart issues called cardiomyopathy which is caused by a virus. I’ve never had high blood pressure or been seriously overweight. However, now my BP is running in the 180/120 range and I gained 60 pounds in 2 months. Appears it’s water weight mostly. I’ve got to make some serious diet adjustments. Thanks for posting OP I’ve found it inspirational how much weight you’ve lost.

Mine hasn't been as dramatic as yours, but similar story. Once I moved out of the field and behind a desk, combined with turning 40, I put on too much weight. I had to buy new clothes. I was too stressed out to care very much, with other work/family issues. This Spring I said frick it. This isn't me.

Over the summer, I've dropped almost half of it just by avoiding carbs. I never eliminated carbs, just avoided and minimized. Instead of making a turkey sandwich, I make a turkey wrap with carb-balance tortilla. Instead of getting fries at a restaurant, I get slaw. Instead of every friday being pizza night, we just started making little flammkuchen type things on tortillas. Instead of frying fish in batter, started sauteing without batter. Little things like that, probably took 70% of my carb intake out of my diet without having to go hard core into any particular diet.

I've hit a plateau though, so I need to probably do a week or two of hard core zero-carb to jumpstart the remainder of the goal. But, I'm back into alot of my old clothes now, and I don't hate myself quite as much.
