Congratulations! You make it sound easy but it’s hard work to make a big change in your lifestyle and stick to it.

I see that you have a wedding band - did the SO take the journey with you? I dropped a good amount of weight when I was married and it seemed to make my ex angrier and angrier.

I do all of the cooking and she eats what I cook, so initially she did and lost some weight, as well. At some point though, it became apparent that she needs constant supervision and since we both work, she eventually took a different path. She’s not mad though, heck she’s got a trophy husband now. :)

Huge congrats. I lost 80 lbs 12 years ago and have stayed the same weight since.

I have a ton of respect for people who can do that. It’s not easy

Wow! That is impressive on the before and after pictures. I caught Covid and that went okay other than I felt like I had the common flu. Fast forward 4 months later and now I’m having heart issues called cardiomyopathy which is caused by a virus. I’ve never had high blood pressure or been seriously overweight. However, now my BP is running in the 180/120 range and I gained 60 pounds in 2 months. Appears it’s water weight mostly. I’ve got to make some serious diet adjustments. Thanks for posting OP I’ve found it inspirational how much weight you’ve lost.

Mine hasn't been as dramatic as yours, but similar story. Once I moved out of the field and behind a desk, combined with turning 40, I put on too much weight. I had to buy new clothes. I was too stressed out to care very much, with other work/family issues. This Spring I said frick it. This isn't me.

Over the summer, I've dropped almost half of it just by avoiding carbs. I never eliminated carbs, just avoided and minimized. Instead of making a turkey sandwich, I make a turkey wrap with carb-balance tortilla. Instead of getting fries at a restaurant, I get slaw. Instead of every friday being pizza night, we just started making little flammkuchen type things on tortillas. Instead of frying fish in batter, started sauteing without batter. Little things like that, probably took 70% of my carb intake out of my diet without having to go hard core into any particular diet.

I've hit a plateau though, so I need to probably do a week or two of hard core zero-carb to jumpstart the remainder of the goal. But, I'm back into alot of my old clothes now, and I don't hate myself quite as much.

Congratulations!

In the last year or so, I lost about 50 lbs without really paying much attention to it. Part of it was I was in the hospital for about a month last summer. Then, my Dr put me on Ozempic injections (once a week). I've lost another 35 lbs since that started.

The downside of Ozempic is it makes you nauseated at times. I get these little waves of nausea every so often. It makes it harder to get excited about eating. I think I'm going to ask my Dr to reduce the dosage a bit to reduce the side effects.

This is an old thread that was bumped but I'm still hanging out where I need to be. Missed three days on the treadmill when I had Covid earlier this year but other than that, I've been on it everyday since 05/01/19.

Just bought one but haven't gotten in the groove yet.

Impressive that you've stuck with it for several years now.

And I can tell by your WFDT posts that you eat well!

Question for you...since you did it gradually, were you able to avoid the leftover/hanging skin that comes with major weight loss?

To a point but I’m into the backside of sixty and my old skin, along with everything else, isn’t as elastic like as it used to be but it’s not to bad. :)
