Brian Thomas Jr tidbit

I posted a few months ago that both Coach O and Saban had been to Walker High twice and only Saban actually talked to Thomas while there. I was told this by an WHS football player and his dad (friend of mine). To be clear, I don't know the rules about talking to player while visiting the school.
I talked to the same player and friend the other day and he told me that Brian's dad said that LSU isn't contacting them at all and that LSU must think that they have him wrapped up, but that's not the case.
Also, Texas A&M and Jimbo are recruiting him the hardest. They call him almost every day. They are selling him on the new "Name, Image and Likeness" rules and how they will market him and help him make $$$.
Just passing along the info.

This rumor was going around, but I still don't know if I buy coach O not even contacting the TMjr clone, in-state, Bama/LSU battle, top 100 recruit.

I think there's a lot of truth to his dad not being fond of LSU for whatever reason and looking more into A&M/Bama in that respect, I however refuse to buy we are not contacting Thomas Jr. at all. Sorry, but that's 1 thing O would never let happen, he is a tireless recruiter and they have set times everyday to catch up with folks they are recruiting.

at this point I expect him to go to Bama, but either this no-contact story is some Jimbo spin or Orgeron really has given up. Because that's just not him.

I dk whether to believe this or not, but I kinda feel like our fanbase as a whole is underrating the importance of landing 4 stud WR in this year's class.
Considering how thin our current freshman and sophomore classes are when it comes to surefire WR talent, we absolutely 100% need the 2021 class to be stacked at that position. Now, none of this is to say that Koy moore and Alex Adams and Trey Palmer won't turn out to be good--i personally think moore will be a stud slot guy eventually--but they're all far from guarantees. We need to load up so that the math is in our favor once more.
So especially considering the fact that WR is the spot where we've heard the most smoke about possible decommitments (deion smith and jojo in particular*), it's imperative that we fill that 4th spot with BTJ or someone else who's legit.
*Not at all saying that either of these guys will decommit--just saying that I've seen rumblings about it here and there

If there's one position I don't worry about it's WR. LSU will get theirs.
Sounds like the Terrace Marshall recruitment

I call bullshite to this. Coach O and staff is relentless in recruiting. Will they get everyone they are after? Probably not, but one thing is undeniable is, there's no way in hell the staff is not recruiting or talking to Brian Thomas Jr on a consistent basis.

I was a little angry in that thread

Boutte was the #2 WR in the country in last year's class. LSU also has Gilbert who is a RARE TE/WR talent. Currently, LSU has 3 of the top 15 WR's committed. The only other team who can say that is Bama.
Yes, LSU would absolutely love to sign Thomas. But I don't think missing out of just him creates some DIRE problem

I'll just add that the friend I talked to is as honest a person as I know. He wouldn't embellish what he heard from Thomas Sr.
I'll also add that I know a lot of the Thomas family really well. I grew up with them. They are a very tight family and would rather him stay close to home.
The fact that he hasn't committed has to say something.

I doubt that’s the case, and if Thomas’ dad is spinning that nonsense, Bama and/or A&M are in their heads.
That being said, I’ve felt Thomas was going to Bama from the beginning and I still believe that.
I think it was very telling that offer went out this late to Malik Nabers.

Yeah, I normally don’t have a recruiting defeatist attitude, but I feel like he’s a Bama guy. Need to keep Deion!

It only says that he's taking his time. What's so wrong about a kid taking his time? And if he decides to go elsewhere, so be it. But, don't give me this shite about LSU not contacting him, hell LSU was contacting the DE that signed with South Carolina to the bitter end, and you actually want us to believe that they are not contacting a Top recruit in their own backyard?
You think LSU is not contacting Maason Smith because he hasn't committed anywhere also? What do you think that says?

I don’t know if the information is accurate, but if Thomas’ dad said that, then the war is already lost. If I remember correctly, Sopsher’s family put out a similar message. Sounds like a play straight out of the Bama recruiting playbook.

If we lose the guy- oh well, so be it.
Honestly who are we to complain when we have 4 of the top 10 WR in the country committed?
But I would be disappointed if we’re not actually putting in the effort.

this is an old rumor.
I can assure you O and Joseph et all are on him.
Also the NIL conversation is being had by everyone. LSU actually hired the same firm as several other power 5 universities to spearhead their approach to marketing this to athletic prospects.
I know he loves bama and their recent success churning out top notch wrs is nothing to discount. But LSU has as well and we have some people in oir corner, namely Chris Hilton, and Jalen Cook (pg on the basketball team) who is Thomas's best friend.
Bama probably leads 55-45 right now, but don't think LSU is taking him for granted. That's a giant exaggeration
